Questions & Answers

What color of premixed grout do you recommend for this vinyl tile, that can also be purchased at Home Depot?

Asked by: Kim
For this, you could use 'Delorean gray', 'Platinum', 'White', or possibly one of several other colors available online. It would be completely to your preference. The base color of the tile is more white but easily compliments a darker neutral. I could not use grout with mine due to slight bowing in the underlayment causing movement that would have cracked the grout over time. But if I had grouted, I would have gone with the Delorean because it matched my freshly painted and glazed vanity (Rustoleum kit - gray). Pic included just for color reference.

are these tiles beveled.

No, they have no bevel. These are straight cut.

Could I apply this to a cement wall as an accent wall? Easy to cut? Also can't tell but does it look like wood?

Asked by: tay102600
I'm not quite sure about applying it to a cement wall, it may take an additional adhesive to do that. It's very thin, so is easy to cut. In my opinion, it looks more like stone. It's very pretty grays and light beiges so it goes with any decor.

do I need to remove the sticky residue left from the old tiles before laying down the new?

do I need to remove the sticky residue left from the old tiles before laying down the new?
Asked by: jb
This can not be laid over old residue. You will want to replace your underlayment/luaun and start new. However, if your tiles are still in place, are vinyl and sturdy, you can lay these right over them. See instructions to confirm your flooring meets criteria. I just couldn't take my dingy looking bathroom any more. The previous owner never even bothered to put a coat of paint on the walls in 17 years. So to start my refresh, I painted/glazed my bath vanity just before laying the flooring. Then, I laid this vinyl over my existing solid vinyl. It adhered very quickly, but with just enough 'play-time' to align and tighten the seams. I had really wanted to grout between the tiles for a more finished look, but I have some 'bounce' in the luaun/plywood in my floor which would likely cause the grout to crack over time. I plan to use the remaining tile I have to do another grouted floor in my smallest bathroom. A couple of months ago, I had used premixed grout in 1/8" spacing with a different TrafficMaster 12x12 tile in my powder room. That floor turned out amazing and looks like actual tile. So, I'd highly recommend considering a grouted finish.  These vinyl tiles cut incredibly easily and clean but still feel durable. Much like drywall. just use a box cutter and a straight edge to make your cut (seam). Then, fold the vinyl along the cut and run your box cutter in the crease on the opposite side. For more difficult, or rounded cuts, you can simply use a sharp pair of craft scissors or vinyl cutters. As with any flooring, inspect your tiles thoroughly before placing them permanently. Properly measured and cut edges are consistently smooth and only need a bead of caulk to finish the look, as shown in the pic of the cuts I made to run adjacent to the tub tile. Another bonus, is that cleaning with a water wipe-up is super easy (don't use soaps or bleach - see instructions). I expected a lot of pattern redundancy, but found almost none throughout several boxes. The pattern on the "white petrified wood" has wood grain appearance, but also has some marbling. Very unique. The color has a whiter base, but also has hints of taupe/tan/greige. You could choose from a couple different grout colors, should you decide to install with grout. This new flooring makes my bathroom seem larger and has brightened the room tremendously. Now that I can see how the bathroom lighting hits the floor and vanity paint, I can pick a wall color. You subconsciously just feel fresher when you walk out of a brighter bathroom, or any room of the house for that matter. I'm very happy with the finished product!

Peel and stick tile has come a long way since the last time I tried to use them. These tile are beautiful and once you put them down they do not come back up. the floor has the look of a nice ceramic floor but was done in about an hour instead of 2 days. All the tile have arrows on the back so that you can keep the orientation correct and not have repeat patterns too close together. I used a knife and a pair of snips to make my cuts and I believe that it turned out nice, More importantly, so does my lovely wife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TrafficMaster White Petrified Wood Vinyl Tile I liked working with this product. I've installed hundreds of square feet of flooring, and this TrafficMaster has to be one of my favorites, especially at the price. The pluses of this product are abundant. I didn't find any negatives at all. + Easy to work with. + Beautiful results and aesthetics . + Nice size vs standard size self stick. + Lifetime residential with a 6 year light commercial wear-through warranty. + Super easy to clean. There are numerous steps which are critical to a professional outcome of the installation. * Read the instructions fully. * Surface preparation is key. All the material I purchased for surface prep was purchased through my local HomeDepot. I used a hardwood under-layment, stapled down. I then used a primer especially made for self-stick tiles. Make sure your surface is CLEAN. Otherwise particles/dirt etc will telegraph through the tiles. Keep checking for any debris as you lay the tiles. I can't stress this enough. * Layout. Generally I start in the center of the area with an offset of half for the next row. I use a chalk line to mark out. However, you don't want to end up with slivers of tile at the edges. You'll want to move your starting lines so you end up with larger pieces on the edges. In this regards, the center of starting point in the room will change to being off center of the room. But, you will get a professional looking job. * Do make sure you keep the arrows on the paper back all facing the same direction. When in doubt, refer back the the installation instructions. Enjoy your beautiful TrafficMaster tile!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from An easy fix to update an old bathroom I chose this flooring to update an old "goldish" vinyl floor in a bathroom. The design on the tiles was a little more "busy looking" than I had anticipated but the colors work well. There's a slight texture on the tiles and you can choose to stick them close to each other or you can leave room for grout as stated in the description. I haven't decided which way I'm going to install these yet so I didn't remove the paper from the back of each tile which you can probably see in these photo's. I don't think I'd go the route of grouting the tile because these are very thin and you won't get good grout depth in between them to keep the grout from cracking when you walk on it with shoes. I was kind of disappointed in the thickness of these tiles. They also did not look very realistic as "petrified wood". It looked more like a stamped design because it wasn't very textured like wood. If you're just updating the look of your floor with something that's pretty durable, then this vinyl tile is good for that and easy to install.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great looking The TRAFFIC MASTER 12 in. by 24 in. peel and stick white petrified wood vinyl tile is a low gloss textured tile that looks alot like ceramic tile. It is only 2.5 mm. thick and has rounded edges like ceramic tile has. This tile can be grouted like ceramic tile or can be placed tight together with no grout lines. It has a ceramic-like protection layer added for scratch resistance. I love the great looks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great This is a wonderful and inexpensive way to have a new floor & change up the decor of your house. It's so easy to install. I installed it right over existing vinyl flooring in a bathroom. After making sure the floor is level and clean, just peel and stick it down. Start at the center of the room and work outward. I had to cut a few end/corner pieces, but it was easily done. It looks more high-end than it costs. I didn't put grout in between, but you can if you want. It's water resistant and has worked well in our bathroom for 2 months now. It's thin yet durable and scratch resistant. I really like the random pattern and the colors. It looks very natural. The colors displayed as examples on the HomeDepot website are very accurate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good This was super easy to install, although I am not sure about the fact that you could actually install like real tile as I just installed it like the usual vinyl. I didn't think it would really look very good with grout and didn't think the tiles looked very much like the description states how they look a lot like the real tile. They were a lot thinner than I figured they would be by how they were described. These are not much different than just regular vinyl tiles. The colors are nice and I like how they look but they just didn't compare to what a real tile would look like. I would recommend this if you are looking for vinyl tile look.
