What is the best way to install over sand?

Asked by Gussymut April 11, 2021
1
Answer

Just some thoughts... Can you run it under the cage walls so they hold it down? Then extend it beyond enough that the dogs can't pull it in? Another idea is to make your own super long spikes out of heavy wire. Of perhaps use very long wooden spikes instead?

Answer

Artificial grass is safe for pets and cleaning up their solid waste is just as easy as on real grass. Following pickup, hose down the target area. In addition, weekly rinsing will help your lawn smell fresh and odor free. For lingering pet odors use an artificial grass deodorizer spray.

What do I need to completely install?

Asked by E4 March 10, 2021
1
Answer

1. Remove existing grass and soil to allow approx. 3 inches of base 2. Cap irrigation system. 3. Install bender boards as needed. 4. Compact existing natural soil. 5. Install base material- compact to 90%-level and sculpt or grade to allow proper water run off. 6. Install Weed Barrier Cloth (recommended for larger installs and weed prone areas) 7. Install Artificial Grass. a. Cut turf to shape, leave edges long to allow tucking. b. 6” nails every 4” along edges and seams. Start on one side and work across while pulling turf tight c. 6” nails on 36” squares throughout center of turf – additional nails as needed. 8. Add Infill 1-2 lbs per square foot 9. Broom infill in and brush blades up. Clean and remove all debris. Air blow entire area. NOTE: These are general specifications. Installation specification can be adjusted to meet specific requirements of installation. *For Turf replacement projects https://greenlineartificialgrass.com/synthetic-grass-installation-guide/

As you can see in the picture we got this grass for our camper patio. It is very life like and it feels really good on bare feet. Even when its wet it still feels good on your feet. It is well made with a thick backing that keeps the blades standing up straight. The colors that make up the blades add to the realism that its real grass. The blades stand up after something has been setting on them.

This is one neat piece of Artificial Lawn Turf! This Traffic MASTER Pet Multiplay 12’ X 8’ Synthetic Lawn Turf is just wonderful. In actuality, the Turf is 12’ wide and can be purchased from Home Depot in any length. This piece is perfect for my needs. I plan on using this one under the grandkids’ swimming pool. I’m thinking it will look good and help keep some of the debris out of the pool. The carpet is well made. Everything looks top notch and durable and the quality is outstanding. The rubberized backing is high quality and has plenty of weep holes. The Synthetic Turf is realistically colored and looks lifelike. The pile is the perfect depth for most uses and is comfortable to walk and sit on. The product arrived well packaged. A couple of fold seams from packaging have already disappeared. The backing was undamaged. I don’t think I am going to permanently install this since the usage will be strictly seasonal. I may get custom sized one of these for my front deck. It would also work well used under play equipment, on porches and patios, under furniture, and even inside in a game room. I have been looking at a water slide. This Artificial Turf would be perfect at the top and bottom of a water slide. Don’t have any pets anymore but this looks like it would make a nice floor for a pet play area.

A Quarantine 2020 must have. Bring the outside indoors. The artificial turf is lush and realistic. The blades have multi colors and is thick and lush. The black rubber backing grips nicely to the surface below. The dimensions are accurate according to the spec. Cat approved as seen in photos. The only drawback I have found with this synthetic turf is static electricity build up.

This artificial turf is an excellent alternative to real grass. The weight, density and color are phenomenal. The individual strands have a great color difference to give the appearance of real grass without all of the work. If you have bad soil, heavy shade or a lot of traffic (both kids and pets) then this is the solution for you or if you want to conserve water, too. The density is great and you can feel the weight when you pick it up. I am expecting years of service out of this and I don't think I'll be disappointed. Our dog loves it and has no problem "using it". Liquids go right through without staining and no odor is present and solids are easily picked up. It's also soft to walk on and feels like dense grass, not carpet. One thing- artificial turf can get very hot in direct sunlight- a quick pass with the hose and it cools off almost instantly.

This indoor/outdoor synthetic carpet comes in a 12 Ft. width and the piece I ordered was 8 ft. long. It ships rolled up on a 14 ft. long tube. I ordered this, for installation in the spring, to replace some well worn grass carpet on my front porch. I'm impressed with the realism of the grass blades. They're very dense and give the impression of being freshly mowed. The Urethane-coated backing is thick and perforated for drainage if used outdoors. I couldn't find a printed warranty for this product but the Home Depot site says 8 years. Unknown what the warranty covers. Also, unlike most products sold by Home Depot, there's no mention of it being returnable.

The trafficMaster is good general purpose turf for use as a substitute for natural grass in instances where you have high traffic or natural turf is not practical. The turf is installed much like stone pavers, over a compacted bed or sand and gravel. It can also be applied on a hard surface with an adhesive. The turf comes in an 12ft. width similar to carpet on a roll. The mat side of the turf is a rubberized backing with drain holes across the surface approximately 7" x 2.5" apart to allow for drainage when installed. A photo is included showing the Fescue turf alongside the Pet-Multiplay turf. The Fescue is approximately half of the width (1/32") of the Pet-Multiplay (1/16"). The turf can be raked with a conventional broom-style leaf rake to relieve the matting, or can be brush with a deck brush. We'll see how much brushing is involved after installation, but it does require brush out after unrolling from shipment. Looks like the dogs will be on turf in the back of the yard this season!

Nice looking pet grass that is short, soft and drains well. I installed it over a round concrete slab with a thin layer of dirt over it. It's is in the middle of my lawn. My Lawn is moss and micro-clover so the artificial turf looks very green right now while its surrounded by just dirt and moss, but when the clover comes up, it should blend nicely. It’s only 1 in. tall, so putting green length, but a realistic grass color, and has the brown thatch too. It comes quite matted down from being on the roll, so you need to work it back up and back fill to hold the blades up. The blades are soft cellophane like many artificial Christmas trees have. It’s easy to cut with a box cutter. I used a white crayon on the black backing to mark my cut lines. The backing gives it a solid weight. I plan to line my catio ground with it too. The cats will like it more than the flagstone I have in there now. Don’t mistake this for a long-blade artificial turf that would mimic a Kentucky bluegrass type lawn. Because this is short, it's more of a play or putting green turf. But it’s nicer than the old Astroturf from the 60s!

My yard has zero grass since I live in the high desert of Arizona where water is precious. My pets miss having a soft green spot to lay in the outdoors. The TrafficMASTER 12 ft. x 8 ft. PET-MULTIPLAY Artificial Grass Synthetic Lawn Turf seemed like a good idea. This artificial grass looks as close to real grass as you can get. The “blades” are much longer, softer and more authentic than the typical artificial grass. The blades are a mixture of green and brown to simulate thatch on a real lawn. The blade length is a generous ¾” long. Please have a look at my pictures. I haven’t permanently secured my turf yet since I am still looking for the perfect location, but I haven’t had any problem with the high winds we have experienced. However, the sand that helps secure the turf will make the blades stand more erect and improve the realism. My dogs have enjoyed laying on the grass during the warmer part of the day and I bet your pets will like it too.
