21 in. 140 cc 550ex Series Briggs & Stratton Gas Walk Behind Push Mower with 2-in-1 Cutting TriAction Cutting System is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 633.

The blade that is on it from factory is either dull or a very poor design as I need to push very slow to ensure there is only some left behind tall blades of grass. I have yet, in 2 times mowing, made a pass without stray grass left standing. This is extremely frustrating as I had a mower that cut perfect before this and the only reason I bought a new one was the pull cord snapped and I thought it would be a good time to upgrade. At this time I would rate this Fair at best because the job it is intended for is cutting the grass and it isn't doing all of its job. I am hoping a new blade fixes the issue but am not happy putting a new blade on an out of the box mower. Also even with the bag attached it seems to mulch some of the grass, which is fine but not the exact intention of bagging the grass. And, to answer the obvious question, NO my grass wasn't all that long, and I am cutting it at almost the highest level on back and the highest on front.

It mows really well. Cuts very close. Was very easy to assemble. Just screwed the bolts in the handlebar. But the negative things vastly outweigh that. In no way is this easy to start. First time I tried had to pull forever. They main reason I bought this it would be easy to start. Low maintenance. None of which is true. You shouldn't have to disassemble the carburetor to get it to work. Just look at all the videos on youtube about this Briggs and Stratton engine. If I would have saw that. I never would have bought this Lawnmower. It's complete Garbage. I put in fresh fuel yesterday. Still took 5 pulls just another lie. And Troy Bilt is Garbage as well. They used to be good not anymore. I also have a Troy Bilt weedeater. As much as I spent on line I could have bought an echo. My cheap Murray Lawnmower started easier than this. Cost a hundred dollars less. Don't make the mistake I did. I can't take it back to much work

I'v had this mower for almost 3 years and will be doing a 2nd repair due to bad design. The first fix was to order a new axel because the back adjustment lever is attached to it. The design issue on this was that the entire weight of the back mower rests on on the bend of the adjustment lever (a thin metal strip). Shockingly, the bend broke after one year. Now, I have to replace the front because the adjustment lever for the two front wheels will no longer stay locked into place and the entire deck drops to the lowest setting. This is awesome because it scalps the yard (a nice crop circle) and dulls the blades. The design flaw in this is that the lever locks into place by a small bend out... well, over time, it wears out and won't stay in the hole. I tried to fix it, but it's that bad! Simply, a poor design is what defeats this mower. The engine is good, and the deck seems good too - but fixing their design flaws is crazy. I will no longer buy their products due to cheap parts and poor designs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and light! This is an extremely light mower...even with a full bag. My yard is relatively flat, and I always bag, but have never even wished it was self-propelled. Speaking of the bag, the grass fills in nicely negating the need to empty the bag so often. Other baggers I have owned only filled up less than half-way before the incoming clippings clogged the chute and bogged down the blade. The large rear wheels make turning and maneuvering easy. My favorite thing, though, is the fact that I hardly have to pull on the cord and she starts. Now, granted I just bought it a little over a month ago, but it is a great feature while she's new. I used to own another Troy-Bilt that, even at 5 years old, pulled within the first 3 pulls, so I have high-hopes for this one, also. Also, in the box was a container with 15oz of oil that you will need as the new mower is shipped without fluids in it. I am quite pleased with this purchase and I hope to have her for manybyears to come.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible machining The machine work was so bad on the unit I got that the handle assembly would not properly align with the mower. Returned it and got a different brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 92 DAY GARBAGE Purchased this Troy Bilt 21" 550ex in Feb 7th 2019 to replace my 20year old mower that finally gave out. 92 days from purchase date and 9 mows of working fine on May 10th 2019 it decided to die. It started fine then after 20 minutes of mowing it died. I restarted it but it would not stay running. I dumped the gas thinking fresh gas would help. Not! I found my recipe and noticed its been 92 day since purchasing the mower so I called Home Depot to see if I could exchange it, they hold to the 90 day return policy but for $18.95 they'll diagnose it and charge me to fix it if it's not covered under the manufacturer's warranty. I didn't buy the extended warranty because it had 2 year manufacturer's warranty. Completely disappointed with Home Depot and Troy-bilt, I feel like I got scammed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Read the reviews before you buy this I’ve got less than 10 hrs on the engine and it has already failed. Same symptoms as all the other reviews: Fuel management issues. If you love to tinker with small engines, it could be fun for you! If you just want to mow your lawn and be done with it - look elsewhere.

The mulch bag is a good size to hold over grown grass, is easy to remove and empty. The mower has been a good buy at a great price!
