Questions & Answers

How safe is this blower.? We have a 3 year old at home.

Asked by: Laura
There are multiple pages of safety instructions in the operators manual . Make sure your 3 yr old reads them thoroughly and understands them before operating the unit . But it sounds like your household does not have the mental capacity to own any power equipment and the local authorities should be called in to remove whatever you currently own.

I am having this shipped to my house from Home Depot; does it come with gas and oil already added, or do I need to make sure I have oil and gas at home? Thanks!
Asked by: Christopher
These are shipped "dry" . You will need to have both gas and oil at home when you assemble your unit

Do you have to mix oil with the gas for this unit?

Asked by: Chuck
Ours came with oil however check the level before using. Gas you'll have to purchase and make sure it's fresh gas, clean and no older than 4 weeks.

what is the horsepower?

Asked by: joe
208 cc = 8 to 9 Gross Torque = 5.5 to 7 hp The shift away from horsepower ratings came after a lawsuit in Illinois claimed that engine manufacturers were overstating the horsepower of lawn mower engines. Read more about it here.

It was a very mild and warm winter month for NEOhio. But on Jan 10 it began to snow. By Saturday we had almost a foot. I finally got to try out my new snow blower. It was around 25F I kept it in the garage. I checked the oil, put gas in and gave the pull chord a tug and it started first pull. It does have an electric start but I wanted to know if I would be able to restart the machine if it stopped while using it. I am 67 years young and a recent 6 way heart by pass survivor. No problem starting it on the first pull. I started to clear the drive. My main concern was the plow build up at the end of the drive. No problem. The Troy Built 2410 is proving to be a good buy. Oh, the next day a cold front came thru dumping 5 more inches with the temp going down to 8F. Again I wanted to see if it would pull start. No problem. Thumbs up to Troy Built on the 2410.

However, It starts and appears to run exactly as expected. I would give 5 stars except for the promotional materials. The machine did not match my research of this model. When I phoned Troy-Bilt, the individual I talked to was confused until I provided the long model number. He explained that the Home Depot machine is a ''dumbed-down' version and does not have all the features shown on their standard machine. If I had paid regular price for this machine, I would be unhappy. Home Depot should point this out in their promotion. As it is, the machine has all the essentials I need. I got into a great sale and feel happy with the price vs the features. Not necessarily looking forward to snow but feel this machine will tackle anything I throw at it. One last item: the Troy-Bilt tech I spoke with was very patient and helpful. I looked at several machines and am very happy I went with Troy-Bilt.

I first bought a much larger and more expensive unit by another company. It was double the cost of this Troy-Bilt, and had a few more features. However, I found this Troy-Bilt to be a great value! The Troy-Bilt 2410 has some real advantages over larger models, its easily maneuverable (no power steering, but it's light enough that you don't really need it), quieter, compact for storage, yet very capable at snow removal. Our area can receive lake effect snows, but rarely over 16" so this unit is all that I need. The thing I like the most is that I don't have a $$$$ unit sitting in the garage waiting for the occasional snow, but when we get a storm, this unit is ready to handle it.

I won't add more accolades, it is a great machine at a good price. I've owned mine since 2010. Mine has a Troy-Bilt 179cc engine. One thing I will add - the ease of changing the oil (which should be done annually) The drain plug is in the back of the machine. Very easy to use. Some other brands put the drain up against the tire which make a simple maintenance item a messy chore.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't Start I bought the Storm 2410 two years ago. The first year it worked great. The second year, I went to use it the first snow of the year and it wouldn't start. I got it serviced and it worked well the rest of the year. I was extra careful and made sure the drain the fuel at the end of season. The next year I had the same problem. First now, went to use it and it wouldn't start. I will now have to get it serviced for the second year in a row. It is two years old and a lemon. This is my first Troy-Bilt snow blower and will never recommend one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent snow thrower! This was a Christmas present from my wife. Living in Colorado are winters are very unpredictable. We have lived here for many years so we never know what to expect from year to year. The model she purchased is the 2410. This is truly a mini work horse. You have to try it for yourself to appreciate the quality and user friendliness of this machineI have plowed through 8 inches of wet spring snow as well as 10 inches of powder without a single problem. The thrower is very capable and powerful. It will actually throw snow 15 -20 feet. They are easy to maintain and with electric start or manual pull everything is simplified. The only minimal drawback of this machine is the reverse. You will notice a difference in speed when backing up. No need to get in a hurry it is a great way to get some fun exercise and be outdoors. I like to work fast as my neighbors always want to borrow it. I have decided it takes very little of my time to help my neighbors . Little do they know I do not mind a bit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Bought this on Black Friday to replace my single stage snowblower. First snowfall of the season last night and it cut through the 10" of wet snow like butter. This is a great machine and a great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine but the shoot s_ _ ks This is the 4th machine I bought from Lowe's Saratoga Springs NY. It's a great machine but who's bright idea was it to use a plastic shoot instead of metal. Half the time it won't turn or it just falls off the machine. Come on guys you have something that works, Why screw it up with plastic.
