How do they attach to vent to cover?

For typical floor vents, remove the floor vent, turn it over with vent fully open. Insert the vent filter between the flexible open/close fins and the top of the vent. The vent filter is flexible enough to slip between the two as shown in the photo.

I live in a basement, can I use this in the ceiling vent?

Yes, assuming the vent is no larger than 4/12 and you can remove the metal or plastic vent cover/grill and insert the vent filter (image is for a floor vent, but concept is the same).

Are these filters safe. Fire hazards??

The material will burn if subjected to an open flame, but no discernible fire hazard from heated air flowing through the floor vents.

They do for a high powered furnace. I'd say they mute it a bit but not block it. If you are talking about blocking voices, I can't answer from one story to the next. We only have one and the vents are in the floor.

This is waaaaay below anyone else's price for same. Since using these filters we have seen a dramatic reduction in the amount of dust filtering into the house from our forced air system. This has benefited us greatly with the reduction of allergy symptoms, let alone the fact that we don't have to dust but 1/10 of what we were! Great product, highly recommended!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap, easy way to eliminate dust, allergens As a previous reviewer stated, these filters are really cheap....they come 12 to a box, so they can be replaced often. I use them in all my ceiling vents. They are thin enough so they don't restrict air flow, which was a concern of mine before buying these. I use a good quality whole house filter (Lennox Healthy Climate Media 16). These cheap air vent filters just add another layer of protection against dust and allergens. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from seems to work, no strange smells I bought this to see if my allergy symptoms were due to dust. It has the consistency similar to thick, flexible styrofoam. It was easy to install. However, it was shorter than my vent. It would be nicer if it were longer and I cut it shorter myself. The width was slightly wider than my vent.
