Is the aluminum shaft version of this shovel still available? It's lighter and does not rust.

The one I received had the aluminum painted shaft. I had the old version of this and this one is built to last for sure!

How is this shovel for short people (I'm 5'1" and lots of shovels are simply too tall/long)?

I think you will notice the curve in the shaft will accommodate your size, in fact being smaller is even better because you won’t have to bend your back at all Sharon!!

Is the nylon wear strip on this shovel safe to use on pavers?

We have used this in Very Heavy, Deep Snow. We have Cedar Wood porch and carport and Composite Wood deck. We are careful not to shovel down too deep so as not to scrape the woods - especially the Composite. We have no experience w pavers. It is the Best shovel we have ever owned. And we have had many.

I don’t know. But we have used this excellent shovel for several years up in the mountains with heavy snowfall and haven’t noticed any problems with the strip.

How is it on your back in heavy wet snow

This is great because there is less being hunched over with the curve. That curve is what makes this a great product. Not to mention this brand is heavy duty. Worth every cent. You get this one and they have one that’s wider and more shallow for cleaning up and good for like plowing. I have both.very happy with both!!

Photos say it all. First use, first snow. Used for one hour. Absolute crap. Unreal. I don’t understand any of these positive reviews. Sorry.

Don’t buy this shovel!
The scoop flies off every time I use it and that makes this shovel a total disappointment - especially for something made it America. Don’t wast your money. The serrated parts don’t work!!!

The shovel is quite large and works well to remove snow off the ground. Something to note if you have a sedan, compact, or coupe, the shovel was too large to fit in my trunk both diagonally and horizontally but it did fit comfortably in my passenger seat.

Like many other reviews here, I picked up this shovel earlier in the year, as I needed a new one anyway. Used it for the first time today, and though it's light and has a great ergonomic handle, the front blade of the shovel is significantly curved up, away from straight. This results in about a 3 inch swath being cleanly shoveled at the middle of the blade, while the rest of the shovel leaves up to a half inch of snow stuck to the sidewalk. Poor quality and engineering that a nice handle and light weight cannot make up for.

I really like the ergonomic handle on this shovel, too bad the plastic shovel blade is a not up to the task of shoveling. After shoveling our deck from two big snows the shovel blade cracked at the base of where the handle attaches. I didn't realize this was a disposable shovel and according to the Home Depot website there is no warranty. My bad for thinking something like this would last any period of time. This may be fine for light shoveling but not when you get a good 8-10 inches of snow. This handle with a more durable shovel blade would be nice.

after 1 year complete garbage
12/25/17. After one year have become almost unusable. Tomorrow will be looking for new. The one i used last year has inch and three quarter curve in blade. Second, still with label has inch curve. You can see curve under Orange straight edge. For this price they should last for more than one season.

We moved up 6,000 feet to a Mountain Community in California. Came from the city and knew nothing about snow. Bought this Snow Shovel over two years ago and it is fantastic for shoveling while the snow is fresh and soft. Once the remains turn to frozen solid ice you need a metal shovel. Found that out the hard way when our son shoveled this past snow storm and it cracked. We liked it so much we ordered a new one right away. My husband glued the first one - holding fine. And we have used the second one already. Much easier on the back and arms then the straight handle type. Holds a lot of snow!
