It came with two taped to the handle. It it is not on the handle ask for the store clerk to replace them.

What is the width, I need one that is one and a quarter inch wide.

They are tapered so they should fit ok. I looked for quite awhile until I found this one. Good grain, straight and very strong.

Will this work on a sharp shooter which was originally a short handle shovel

If installed deep and properly enough it should work equally as well! If a second rivet is desired, a drill with and appropriately sized drill bit could be used to generate a pass through hole for the new/additional rivet.

This shovel handle is solid and durable. It was easy to put the shovel head on with the included pins. I welded mine on for stability with a wire feed MIG GTAW machine. (Millermatic) I ground down theweld and painted with Rust-o-Leum black removable rubber paint (also purchased at HD to improve the grip points on the shovel handle (see photo). I highly recommend this product!
