Questions & Answers

What has True Temper done about the rivet problem on the metal scraper edge? (Rivets consistently wear and pop off very quickly!)

Great question. Mine came off the first season and the rest of the shovel started to break apart. Should have returned it when it happened.

Is there a place to purchase a replacement blade for the 26" shovel?

Asked by: jdsicl
I found a nice piece of metal strip from work and used it to replace the worn out one. I simply drilled and tapped the screw in and then grinded it down flush. Works like a new one and even better.

SnoBoss 26 in. Snow Shovel is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 192.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good shovel, easy on the back The concept is great, much better on the back than a shovel because you never need to lift snow off the ground. Just scoop it up and push it along. On deeper snow you can plow into the snow, fill up the large shovel then lower the handle a bit so the scoop glides over the snow instead of scooping it. Then it's just a matter of pushing it along to were you dump it. I've made piles well over my head while never lifting snow off the ground. Just keep dumping snow in the same place and build up a ramp. The back likes pushing much more than lifting, that's for sure. Although the metal blade edge helps, like all plastic shovels it isn't great for breaking up ice. Took off 1 quality mark because when you slide it around you do end up sliding plastic on the ground which will eventually wear down. I'd like to see a couple strips of sheet metal underneath to slide on. However that is a minor quibble and wouldn't deter me from buying another, which is probably why it isn't there.

The shovel is durable, well-balanced, capable of moving large amounts of powder to wet snow, and accommodates the needs of those who may not be too strong. The reason for my repeated purchase of this model is due to the qualities cited and due to misuse of the previous SnoBosses used by the family. This is not an IceBoss, and when you use it on ice, as in attempting to chip or cut ice, you will damage the metal blade and yellow bucket. The SnoBoss is so effective, you think it can do anything; but, when you put it up against ice on sidewalks, driveways, or on the lawn you defeat the purpose of the design and bust the blade. In all other appropriate usage it is truly the SnoBoss.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rivets Fail in Short Order This is a great shovel for the first couple of uses and then the rivets wear down and the metal scraper blade comes loose and falls off. When this happened to me I put it back on with small carriage bolts and locking nuts. My bolts have lasted much longer than the original rivets but now the blade itself is wearing down on both edges to the plastic. I was hoping to find a replacement piece but I haven't been successful in finding one.so I guess I'll have to make one. I must say that when the shovel works, it works well but it was not made to last. I went out to take pictures of the Snoboss just now and found that one of the two replacement end bolts is missing, This must have happened this morning during my shoveling activity because they were all there last night when I checked the shovel for readiness. See my pictures.

It's awesome for pushing large amounts of snow, not really great for small areas but you can clear those smaller areas with a smaller snow shovel. I cleared my whole driveway in very little time with little effort and minimal muscle soreness afterwards. I recommend using your body weight to push and let the shovel guide to wherever you are piling the snow. I love it!

The scoop is big! This is good and bad. It is easy to push large amounts of lightweight snow due to its size and easy to dump the snow out, but too big for some areas.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This was purchase as a replacement for a new one... This was purchase as a replacement for a new one I borrowed that broke during normal use. I do not recommend, since the plastic in the blade is fragile when cold. For the price would have thought it would last more than one use moving 1.5 inches of snow off of my driveway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from There’s a bit of a learning curve to use this... There’s a bit of a learning curve to use this snow pusher properly. One must figure out the right angle so that the Metal edge actually cuts through down to the concrete; Otherwise it will leave a trail of snow about an eighth of an inch thick.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If you live in New England, DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY Nice for fresh snow. If you live in New England do not wait until the next day to shovel using this shovel. It is not designed for the stress of heavy frozen. You might get a couple of snow storms, and then the corners of the scoop will crack.
