1.5 in. - 1.75 in. Drain Protector Hair Catcher in Orange

I installed this drain protector below the existing grate that did an inadequate job of keeping hair from clogging the shower drain. It fit snugly into the pipe and although it has only been in there a couple of weeks, I think it will prevent clogs in the future with regular maintainance. It does restrict the flow however, and backs up the water to some degree.

1.5 in ti 1.75 in drain protector hair catcher was delivered in good condition and the color is very bright. The product is good and function the purpose of catching hair. But set in the drain is not well fit. I replaced the existing one and existing one top have separate top materials and set flash with bathtub drain. In this one I am missing those. Rather than that this is a good prodect.

I got this plug for my shower. I missed on the size for the top diameter however the drain size was perfect. I have the remove the drain cover every couple weeks as the drain is backed up with hair. It takes about 15 minutes to clear each drain. Now I pushed this in the drain and left it. About 2 weeks later the drain slowed down. I immediately pulled the plug and wow it was loaded. I pulled everything off in about 10 seconds. I put the plug back in and everything worked great. I did check to see if hair bypassed the plug and the answer was no. I love this thing!!!

I put this in the tub in less than a minute myself yesterday. I had to watch a video on YouTube last month when I had mistakenly ordered the sink hair catcher. So I knew how to already remove the drain plug. I just unscrewed the plug and put the hair catcher in it’s place. Super simple. It’s an eye catching orange. Now all I have to do is wait a week or two and see how much hair it’s caught.

TubShroom works just like the SinkShroom by replacing the standard strainers in the tub. Installation is simple and all you have to do is remove the cover over the tub drain and gently press the TubShroom into place. Leave approximately half-inch gap between drain and TubShroom. The Drain protector hair catcher is a must for anyone who has ever gagged when cleaning the hair out of the bathtub drain. It fits snuggly into the tub drain and catches all the hair that would have normally gone down the drain. Once you are through showering simply remove it, wipe it clean with a tissue and rinse it off. No more drain cleaning or nausea!! A little pricey but well worth the investment.

I've been using the TubShroom for over a year now and I absolutely recommend it. I don’t know if it in fact catches every single hair, but it does a very good job in catching most, especially the longer ones. Depending on the drain, it may sit almost all the way in or about an inch of it popping out of the drain – either way is normal. The water drains through all the small holes just fine and the lip on the bottom catches the hair. I do clean it every few days. The cleanup couldn’t be any simpler. Take it out and wipe the hair away with nearby toilet paper. Then drop it back into the drain and let it do its magic. It is made of some soft rubber which maintains the shape and easy to clean. Again, I’ve had mine (white) for over a year and it hasn’t corroded, cracked or discolored. So I got another one in Green. As far as the water draining through it, that depends on the water flow.. When I just got this hair catcher, it did seem to block the water flow a bit. However I had a high flow shower and handheld running together. Now, I have a new handheld shower with 1.75 GPM flow and the access water drains just fine without any backup. I just got a few more in different colors. I can definitely recommend this hair catcher for any tub with a 1.5” drain. The diameter of the bottom circular part is 1.75” wide, while the top is 2.25”. The whole TubShroom is 2” tall.

If you have an open tub or sink drain, this should work for you. When deciding on this product, I did not stop to think the drains MUST be open with no drain guard installed. So if you do not need the tub or sink stopped up for holding water, this will work. They come in a variety of colors and are made of industrial-strength silicone .... so they should last a good number of years.

This drain catcher rocks!!! It has caught so much hair in the last few weeks! I installed it and forgot about it. See pictures. It catches hair and still allows water to drain so it isn't clogging up constantly and my kids don't just pull it out and leave the drain unprotected. Cleaning it is easy because it is so flexible. Can't see any way to improve this. Just so much better than the screen type I had that had to be cleaned after every shower because it clogged so easily. Wish I had gotten one sooner. Definitely prevents clogs. You won't regret buying it.
