Hi Scott, That is a lovely, striking color of blue. While the product page says that "Touch up paint is intended for small areas only. i.e. cut ends or nail holes. Due to the proprietary coating process, exact color match is not guaranteed. Apply paint sparingly to effected area. Always test touch up paint on a scrap board," you should find that the following formulation is quite satisfactory: Behr touch up paint formulation: Satin Base UL223 / 8 oz. (CLRNT 384th, BL 150, EL 45, KXL 77).
Newbie, If you have a super-steady hand and an excellent eye, you could paint once the shiplap has been hung. If you are not like this, feel free to wait until afterwards. Know, of course, that you'll have a few nail holes to fill, but that is a piece of cake compared to taping-off, covering everything else nearby. Best of luck to you on this project.
Katy, Good catch on that one! We are in the process of correcting that error now. Thank you for alerting us. The recommended base is satin, not eggshell.
Jj, You only need three trim pieces: 8 ft. lengths of 1×4 wood trim piece, stool trim piece, and base cap trim piece. First, nail the 1×4 trim piece to the top edge of the wood plank wall - you will be applying the pieces from the top of the in-place boards upwards, towards the ceiling. Secondly, nail the “stool” trim piece on top of the 1×4 trim piece. Lastly, nail the base cap (upside down) underneath the “stool” trim piece. Be sure to fill in all the nail holes with wood filler and sand if needed. Then paint the trim work, and you are finished.
Zach, This shiplap color is just lovely. In the "Use and Care Manual" link under the "Info & Guides" section on the product page, you will find the paint touch up guide for this item. In case you are unable to access it, here is the information: Custom Color Match 8 oz. Behr Base UL223 (Satin) CLRNT BL EL KXL OZ 0 0 0 384th 150 45 77
Jand, The boards are made of pine.
Mark, According to our experts, minimal expansions and contraction will occur.
Hi MJ, The Home Depot website does provide paint for touch-ups of the shiplap. Go to the Info & Guides then Installation Guide section. Or, here is the link: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/93/933a3792-bbec-42e0-96a4-4c813c963609.pdf Best of luck in your quest.
Poeyfarre, The shiplap boards are okay to use in a bathroom, but you should avoid areas that would experience extreme moisture - inside the shower enclosure, for example. If you have any concerns that the boards will be too close to water exposure, you might consider sealing them just as added insurance.
