is this weldable

Asked by Duke February 25, 2021

Answer

Long story short YES. Funny part. Bought a duplex, other half was vacant. Home Owners association very strict. Privat patio. Wide open between our half and the other vacant half. Bought the fence and put it in. Didn't ask, didn't tell, no permit process, just did it. This is a vacation home. Left for season, came back. New owner next door did not ask permission, but had a friend come in and add 6"in height to the fence posts. And attached a privacy screen. I looked, I saw, I laughed. Nice job of welding. It is steel so you can weld it.

Can this be installed on incline?

Asked by Victorian February 19, 2021
1
Answer

Yes the fence can be installed on an incline, if the slope is severe you will have to step down the posts, for the fence to look decent but very doable. The connector flange can be bent with Channellock's to help fitting the connector when installed on an incline.

Hello, There are two kinds of POSTS. FLANGED POSTS to bolt on top of concrete. Here is a link to the Home Depot page: https://www.homedepot.com/p/US-Door-Fence-2-in-x-2-in-x-5-ft-Black-Metal-Fence-Post-with-Flange-and-Post-Cap-FP260PUS/206019194 And there is a NON FLANGED POST that you bury in the ground/dirt. Here is a link to the Home Depot page: https://www.homedepot.com/p/US-Door-Fence-2-in-x-2-in-x-6-5-ft-Black-Metal-Fence-Post-with-Post-Cap-P278PUS/206019213 These posts are universl, they work for both line posts and end posts.

no. the top and bottom rails intersect the post at 90 deg. a few years ago I was able to special order fence sections at specific angles for a hillside though.

Fence has significant rust issues. How do I apply for the warranty?

Asked by Benton December 9, 2020
1
Answer

Don't know about the warranty. Depends on the the climate conditions. As an old body and fender man, I would wipe it down with an acid etch to stop the rust and then repaint with Rust-Oleum paint.

This rail was perfect for what I needed. It did not disappoint. It's a beautiful addition to my front porch. It was easy to install and only took our handyman a couple hours to cut and attach.

I am very pleased with how the fence turned out and the quality. If you're an army of one like I am and installing it yourself, it's really not that hard to do unless you're on top of a retaining wall being scratched up by rose bushes and trying not to destroy newly laid sod as pets keep are below sitting right where the panel would fall. Here's some tips. Lubricate the brackets. They go in easy but they don't always come out easy if you need to make an adjustment. It was a huge time saver to install each panel with a line post already attached to it. Mine were bolted into a retaining wall and all I had to do was fasten one side. I looked locally to find a 3' metal fence like this but all I could find were 6' wide panels and they were a lot more expensive. These ship from California so you may have to wait a while if you're on the other side of the country like I am. It took about two weeks but it was worth the wait.

Rusted in a year.
I wanted to like this product. It was easy to install and looks great, but all of the bottom welds rusted at about the year mark, with several rusting through. The rest of the fence is fine. It’s just rusting through at the lower weld spots.

Very easy to install. I have small dogs and they can get through the posts so I overlapped two panels staggering them. I also cut them in half with my grinder so it was only an additional $21 a section. I ordered black plastic plugs on Amazon for the cuts and it looks great. Very happy.

Easy to install. Happy to report I was able to fit this lying flat behind the front row seats in my 2008 Honda Odyssey with the 2nd row seats removed and the 3rd row seats folded down flat into the floor. I could have stacked 3 or 4 flat without hitting anything critical on the back of the seat. There was about a half foot space to spare between the Honda Odyssey's rear hatch and the back of the fence section. If you have a different car, or are getting a taller fence, measure first or rent something to haul it/them with. Laying flat, this fence only used 32 of the 49 inch wide floor in my Honda, and 8 of the 8-1/2 foot space behind the front row seats. The fence is solid and looks great. My local Home Depot in Redding had plenty of the fence sections in stock each time I visited. They also had the posts and other hardware needed. When I went to the other hardware stores, they seemed to not have the selection or availability that Home Depot has.

Great item, especially liked the galvanized undercoating, lighter weight than sections I had purchased years ago. Easy to handle. Unfortunately one of three panels I purchased must have been handled poorly when shipped to the store and was racked out of square with slightly twisted rail. Didn't notice it until I started cutting to length and too late to return, which Home Depot is always happy to accommodate.

Worked great! Set the posts in concrete and attached the fence. Did not really follow the directions and set the fence even with the top of the posts. Dropped the rails by about 2 " Also set 1st post, attached just the top bracket. Leveled fence, set and attached the 2nd post. Then attached lower brackets. Was simple and easy. Everything true, square, and level. Continued on for the nest posts and rails. Work much faster with 2 people.

We needed a dog fence on one side of our deck. A fence that was simple and easily cut in sections. After cutting the sections, I wrapped the ends of the rails with strong, black tape, allowing the tape to extend about 1 inch beyond the rail. I cut the extended tape up to the end of the rails so that I could tuck the extended tape pieces inside the rail. This protects the rails from scratching the wood posts, plus minimizing the chances of rails rusting. I designed and installed wooden U shaped hangers for the fence rails to drop down into. The out side of the U hanger is a bit higher than the in side, making the installation of the fence a lot easier.
