Answers1/8 inch. Try to get it right the first time. The tab with the hole is likely to break off if you try to remove it. This happened to me just tapping it with a rubber mallet.
The mounting brackets are too wide to fit in the panel ends. How are these supposed to work???@!!

Answers1 in this case means 4--you pay for 1 pkg of 4 mounting brackets. Home Depot's miss labeling this product almost caused me not to purchase any of the fencing items associated with this mounting bracket. I am glad though that I went ahead and did so. It meant that I ended up with more mounting brackets than I needed; however, with a trip to my neighborhood Home Depot I received a full refund.

AnswersYes. I have done this many times. A hacksaw will work. I use a Sawzall with a fine metal blade. You will want to have a can of black spray paint handy to re-protect the bare metal ends left by cutting the rail.
Do they sell this brackets individually? One of the brackets broke trying to pull it out of the fence
