It would hold together when used over a dime sized hole or a 1/4" crack. It's stronger than duct tape, but it's not a solid patch material. Example: If you have a dime sized hole in the bottom of the rain gutter on your house, this works well. If you have a basketball sized hole in the floor pan of your car, not going to do the job.

Does this product have an R Value or any insulating properties?

Asked by Klittle June 7, 2019

Answer

While it could be great for closing up an air leak, it probably has almost no R value. Keeping cold air in the winter from blowing into your heated space is a good thing, with or without an R value.

what is the fire rating... or is the product flamable ?

Remove Swamp Cooler Patch
I removed my swamp cooler and patch the hole with this product took 2 rolls but I know water won't get thru. Also updated my electrical panel and used this, I put half on the sheetmetal and half on my siding. Lastly I had a hole in my garage roof where my vent was for my water heater used to be now I don't have to worry about any water leaks this winter

GREAT FOR A MOTORHOME ROOF.(SURVIVED EXPANSIONS & CONTRACTIONS & FREEZING)
>>>>>I used this TAPE to seal a "crimped" seam in a metal motorhome roof---a problematic situation because of wide temperature swings (hot sun in summer, and snow in winter, with some "ponding" after storms), and because of the use of "butyl" sealant in the mechanical seams when originally manufactured (which "bleeds" even 30 years later, damaging painted roof coatings, and this also prevents caulk from staying stuck down there for more than a few months). This TAPE has held up well for over a year now, and still looks new. The under-surface ("asphalt-based" portion) is still malleable, so one wonders how well stuck down it is--but IT IS--so far). I think that the KEY APPLICATION TECHNIQUE here (other than cleaning the deck with soap and water, and then with a solvent too --I used acetone, available in small metal containers) is to repeatedly FORCE the tape onto the substrate. I used a SMALL (really narrow) roller and my body weight, over and over, back and forth to set this Tape in place (most such adhesives now are Pressure-Activated, so do work hard at this step!). I then pounded the entire thing down, back and forth, with a hammer, to do everything I could to activate that adhesive! So far, it looks as if that worked well! . >>>>>As for the cost, I have seen many "specialty" products that cost a LOT MORE, and have not held up this well. The only comparable item I have used--"Eternabond", and that does what it sounds like--it IS permanent, even though black-only, without a metallic layer on top. These are side by side on this roof, and BOTH so far move well with the expansion and contraction of this roof. [The Eternabond is damaged easily by scuffing or by tools.] We'll see as time goes on further.... Can they BOTH be ETERNAL?

Didnt hold on trailer roof as stated in description.
I removed the old non silicone based sealer that was on the roof, used a wire brush on a grinder to remove all previous calking. Next i used a solvent based cleaner - then dried the area with a clean rag. Things looked great however after one trip with the trailer the tape started to peal away from both itself and the trailer. It was so poorly created that the silver even the silver foil was pealing away from the tape itself in several areas. The directions state to use a 3 inch overlap on areas that it should bond to each other - even that pealed up. it was put on mid 80'sF and allowed to set for 3 weeks before rain or the trailer was used. Now i have a mess - Distributor will not stand behind it - Many other better products out - i was trying to save some time with this and get it from the HD.
