Questions & Answers

I want to put this on the ground and put fake grass over it. Can I use it for that?

Asked by: shergenius8
Thank you for your inquiry. Water will not cause Durock to break down. However it is not a structural panel and we do not recommend installing it on an exterior horizontal application such as directly on the ground. It is a tilebacker board and is intended for use with tile, thin brick or stucco only.

Will my floor be structurally sound if I put 1/4" durock over 3/8" plywood rather than the minimum 5/8" plywood? I am trying to make the hardwood floor flushed with the tile. Thank you
Asked by: gentry
if there is any flex the durock will eventually break up, following the manufacturer's recommendations is important.

Can this product be used as sheathing for a fence column/pillar to be covered with stone veneer?

Will also be using a water resistant barrier
Asked by: JS
Don't know, but I used as my interior walls and once it was plaster it with cement concrete it then becomes hardened and it looks like if you use blocks or bricks and it was painted and tiled. Looks perfect.
