Thank you for your inquiry. Gypsum wallboard is not approved for use in tub and shower enclosures.
Ceilings are often constructed of 5/8" drywall, and this 1/2" patch wouldn't be thick enough. It's worth measuring the thickness of your existing ceiling drywall before you start the repair.
Thank you for your question. The patch would have to be tapped and finished it is not self adhesive. Drywall clips may also be an option for the application.
I couldn't lift a full 4' x 8' sheet (I'm a 60-year-old female), so I cut it in half in the store and took both pieces home. The cashier didn't seem surprised so I guess I'm not the only one who's done this. It meant an additional seam in the wall I was repairing, but it looked fine and saved me $700 by doing the job myself.
I saw the 5/8" sheet for sale in my local store. Maybe some stores do not stock that thickness?
Sure it's the same as a 4x8 sheet just cut down to a smaller size.
Thank you for your question. The product does not have a fire rating it is used to repair a fire rated wall to help maintain the the existing rated wall.
I’m not sure how big it is to patch but It should be okay.
Get on your computer and look up Angie's list. Look up a carpenter in your area. Have him come out, give you an easement and some referrals. Call and see if they were happy with his work. I honestly think this job is over your pay scale. Plus your cost for tools, mud, paint and all other little things. Plus your first job....It might cost close to the same price plus look a hole lot better.....Good luck with your job.....Dae
