Asked by Jane January 31, 2019

Jane Thank you for your inquiry. You are likely to get pin sized bubbles in the finish when you apply joint compound over wall paper or a previously painted surface. We recommend removing the wall paper and any glue before refinishing the wall. Hope this helps.

Asked by BigDog54 April 3, 2018

Add water and mix to get to a texture of honey. Use a drill with a paddle bit to mix it completely.

Lala Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend inserting an anchor through a hole patched with joint compound. Hope this helps.

Can this be used on wood for crafts to be used outside?

Asked by Karen October 28, 2019

Could possibly be used on wood and crafts as it dries somewhat hard but its not to be used outside especially if not protected with a coating...joint compound soaks up water like a sponge when made wet and will get soft again....Good Luck!

I have large parrots is this compound high in odor

Asked by lfwinnie November 30, 2018

Hard to say "high" in odor. It is there, no mistaking it. If that is your only concern, look for a sheetrock compound with low/no VOC level. There are other types you may want to look into. Some are, lightweight compound, dust control, ultra... Hope this helps

what is the significance of the lid colors?

Asked by Bas January 21, 2019

The color of the lids make a huge difference. Blue, Purple, Red, Green, Black..The blue lid is very soft when dry. not very durable and easy to sand and also very easy to damage. The Purple and Red lid compound is a Mid-Weight still fairly easy to sand and holds up much better than the blue lid. The Green and Black lids are a Multi-Purpose compound. Very durable and much much more harder to sand. I use the green lid to tape with and/or to do a level 5 Finish. The Blue lid I wouldn't use myself. What I use at work is either the Purple or Red lid. Not hard to sand but yet, still pretty Durable. I posted somewhere else that as a general rule. The heavier the bucket of compound, The harder it is to sand. Lift up a bucket with a Blue lid and then lift up a green lid. You'll see what I mean.. Hope this helps.

is this fire proof?

Asked by suraj July 17, 2019

. According to a national manufacturer of a joint compound material, joint compound does not have a fire rating by itself. When used together with other products in an assembly it does have a fire rating that is listed by a national organization, such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL). There is a fire rated compound and it comes in a powdered form and it's red if you truly need a rated compound

Asked by taboulitoo July 20, 2018

Not really... 1" is a wide space. Fill with sheetrock first and then use joint compound (probably a lot less than 4.5 gallon size) to finish

about to drywall my home is this the stuff i would use to cover tape and screw

Asked by christina January 31, 2016

Is this ok to use as a skim coat on already painted plaster walls?

Asked by Ibraca October 7, 2020

Thank you for your inquiry. Sheetrock All Purpose joint compound can be applied over interior plaster. You will need to sand the existing painted surface before applying to prevent bubbles from forming. Hope this helps.

Partially empty bucket
When I got home 1/3 of the bucket was empty and missing product. I took it back and the whole pallet was that way. They cheated the customer even with these higher prices.

Got two of these for my garage remodeling project. Just use a mixer attachment with your power drill to mix it up. Added a little water for final coat to thin it out - but just a little water. For a first time doing mudding, it was breeze to use in my opinion.

Excellent product, my wife and I are having a blast applthis product. Very easy but for first timers please mix it!!! It comes ready to use, but mix it because once you get how ever you need...(thick, thin, custard, yogurt, etc.) So EASY, skim coats excellently, and covers a lot, (2 buckets has done a livingroom, hallway, and kitchen) really good!!! We actually have popcorn walls(don't know what thats about), we tried to paint to over look it, did not work.

I didn't use this for its usual purpose. I mixed it with paint and troweled it on as a heavy plaster finish, and it came out quite well.

Good for taping. Not as strong as DuraBond.
This is a decent bucket mud to tape with. The adhesion is good, but not as perfect as DuraBond or ProForm Quick Set. It is much better than ProForm Black AP.
