Answer This Question

A:  It can be used without the lock on system too

by|Jul 8, 2021

A:  Most brooms have the same threads. I would bring your unger telescope pole to a Home Depot store and see if it fits. The employees at Home Depot are very helpful.

A:  If it has the correct thread I don’t see why not. I just used a wooden handle that I needed to replace the broom head on and it works fine.

When my wooded headed broom started dropping bristles I knew it was time to replace it. I use it on my pool's cool deck daily to remove leaves. I've been leaving it out (in the shade) to save steps, probably not my best idea. Any how, when at HD I saw this new Unger broom with it's "Unique" Lock-On handle system, this made a lot of sense to me as the pole on my old broom was always coming loose (slowing down my important sweeping). The Unger Broom head is sold separately from it's "Lock-On" handle. I tried to find the matching handle, but there was none in stock (or on the internet - yet). So I brought Unger's standard dual end handle (4'). It's a nice, reasonably priced, handle, but lacks the "lock-on" feature, guess Unger has not gotten them out yet, I wish they had (-1 star). In any case the 20' brush is lighter than the equivalent wooden brush, and the opposing angled nylon bristles do a great job of sweeping evenly and moving leaves/debris from my cool deck. The dual ended handle comes out of the broom pretty easily. So, once I find the matching Lock-On handle, I'll definitely upgrade, but I've looked and can't yet find it anywhere (yet). I think they should sell the broom head with and without the Lock On handle. But thus far I've only found the broom head, which I do like, the opposing angled Bristles do work better than straight bristles.

This lock-on broom head is exactly what I have been looking for. Most of the broom heads are either way to stiff being made of some type of wire material or too flimsy to really do the job. This model has the perfect resistance level to be effective and yet not too soft to be ineffective. Love the color pattern and it can be used with lock-on handle or regular screw in type which I’m currently using. Lock-on works best so you don’t have to tighten it several times during use. Good quality product.

Not only does the broom head clean debris of various sizes it also works well on a variety of surfaces. I typically use the broom to clean my garage floor which is a vinyl like material with a pattern; then part of the asphalt driveway and sometimes the stamped concrete sidewalk. Right now I'm using my old broom handle with universal threads but I like the idea of the "lock-on" threaded system so I probably will upgrade to a new pole in the near future.

I bought a replacement as the blue handle recepticle broke on my original, a poor design. The push broom otherwise works fine for its task.
