Q:Any thoughts on using this as a basic beverage refrigerator, rather than just a wine fridge? Thanks;
by|Jan 16, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  You can use the wine fridge as a basic beverage refrigerator, but the temperature will not go as low as a typical beverage fridge as wine is designed to be at specific temperatures. The wine fridge has a temperature range between 39F and 68F.

Q:Is there any way to have the light turn on when the door opens?
    by|Jan 5, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  There is an on/off button for the light, it is not designed to be automated when the door is open. We do not recommend leaving the light on permanently as this can cause the temperature in the wine cooler to increase.

        Awesome looks and operation
This wine cooler really has some character to it. It looks nice and seems to be well built. It has wooden racks that the bottles sit on. With the slats, on the racks, spaced the way they are, it cradles a bottle perfectly. The temperature setting is 39-68f degrees, which should cover most wine needs. I set it to 39 degrees and put a digital thermometer on the top shelf and it was 40 degrees, pretty close, in my opinion. The manual is well laid out and has more info than the average. There is a couple other things to note, the touch buttons are just that, touch. They don't move when you touch them so it takes a bit to get used to them not pressing in when you "push" on them. No big deal since they work good, just got to get used to it. The other thing is that they are using an actual refrigerator system for cooling. A lot of wine coolers, especially small ones use a different system that I don't think works as well. The draw back to the refrigerator system is that if you're moving it and tilting it much, you need to wait for 12 hours after setting it before you plug it in so that the fluids all settle back to where it belongs. If you don't tilt it much, you don't have to wait. There is an adjustable leg on both sides of the front for leveling and nothing on the back. The sound level is pretty much not noticeable.

Works as advertised. But let’s be clear this is fashion.
This wine cooler fridge has a sleek retro look. The paint is gloss black and the glass front gives it a modern vintage feel (should you put those two words in the same sentence??). But the $1000 price tag (Jan ’22) makes this a piece of jewelry more than a practical convenience. Operationally the unit is reasonably quiet and does what is says it should….Creates cool wine. I say cool because it is not a refrigerator. It just brings the temp down to low 50’s, which is ideal for wine I’m told. I did a temperature test by placing small jars of water at the top, mid-back, and lower rack to test for consistency. With the fridge set at 54 degrees (it has a digital thermostat) the top and bottom test jars were 58 degrees and the middle-back jar was 55. So I would give it “just OK” at accuracy and temperature consistency. The rack arrangement is a bit tight. Sparkling wine bottles were tough to get into the mid shelves. But with some persistence I think it will fit 28 bottles as claimed. HD sell lots of cheaper alternatives. But if you are looking for that early 60’s feel this guys gets it done. But for me who values function over fashion, it gets an “average or “C” grade.

Very happy with the quality and design of this cooler
I was searching for a free-standing wine cooler that can replace a simple drawer at the end of my kitchen cabinets. This cooler is nicely designed and works well with my white appliances and white kitchen cabinets. The top of the cooler is the same height as my kitchen counter. The bright white finish is perfect. The cooler was securely packaged for shipping. Both the sides and front door were well protected. The insulated glass door arrived undamaged. The sides have a clear plastic film which will need to be removed. The cooler is well built and weighs around 80 pounds. The cooler compressor is very quiet, I set it up in my dining room to make sure it worked. If you’re sitting quietly, you can barely hear the compressor start up. The cooler is plugged into a 20-amp outlet because of the compressor. It didn’t take long for the cooler get cold. The instructions recommend turning the cooler on empty, and then filling after it reaches the desired temperature. The inside of the cooler is very large and can hold 28 normal 750ml wine bottles. However, if you have irregular shaped or larger wine bottles and all the shelves are installed, you won’t be able to fit 28 bottles in this cooler. The wooden shelves lock in place with a small wooden rail at the back of the shelf. You won’t be able to pull the shelves forward when they are filled with wine bottles. I don’t think the shelves are built to be pulled on from the front? The shelves are close together, you can fit bottles between the shelves, but it is a tight fit. For my use, I will probably use one less shelf and make getting bottles in and out of cooler easier. The control panel is visible when the door is closed and the buttons are easy to understand. The buttons are meant to be tapped. I tried pressing and holding down the temperature button and nothing happened. The ONLY button that gets held down is the Power Button. (5 seconds for on or off) This is my first wine cooler and I am very happy with the quality and overall style of the cooler. The door is well made and seals securely. I don’t have it full yet, but I plan on using it for my white and sweet red wines!

        Nice looking wine cooler
I have an old wine fridge that is simple showing signs of age. (can not hold temperature, turns on and off and worst of all very loud) We thought it was time to upgrade and we came across The Classic Retro by Unique (28-bottle wine cooler)  it comes with LED lights, 4 shelves that can hold 5 alternating bottles and a small removeable bottom rack that can hold 6 bottles. The cooler has simple chrome accents, single panel glass door, digital control panel with on/off, temperature +/- and the light and display button up top. I personally like that It is single zone and it can go down to 39 degrees Fahrenheit so if you like your whites chilly it can do that and I have a thermometer inside to monitor temperature and it has maintained. I like that it is very quite and classic looking with rounded edges and corners not the sharp box type most are selling now.  A couple things I do not like but can overlook is that the door is not reversible so you have to like the the cooler positioning before loading it up with your favorite wine selection. And the wooden shelves which are nice do not easily slide out, you have to lift the back end to disengage shelf in order to slide out to access wine and being a little pricey but other than those small details, I love the look and would definitely recommend to someone looking for a simple, classy wine cooler.

Lifespan of product only 8 months.
Do not buy this product. Failed after 8 months. We did a warranty return and our second unit also failed after 8 months. I think it's the circuit board.

Broke after 7 months. Would not recommend
Bought in April. Worked till October and then wouldn't turn on. No way to troubleshoot. Maybe the circuit board failed. Will return to home depot for refund.
