No light coming through. Huge regret
Even on bright sunny days, can't detect any light coming through, even with 3 of them in the kitchen. Unless you can install these perfectly straight, with tunnel length under 5 feet, don't bother. We were left with 3 ugly holes in ceiling with plastic covers.

Dear Valued Customer,

Based on your photo, your tubing currently has slack near both the upper and lower connection points. This is lowering the rate of reflection and decreasing your overall light output. Once this has been adjusted, your light output should greatly increase.

It also appears you may have two flexible tunnel sections attached together for an extended run, which VELUX does not recommend. If your run exceeds 8ft, you may consider installing a rigid tubing in place of the flexible tubing. By changing to rigid tubing, you can increase your light output by two to three times your current light output.

If you would like to discuss your current installation, please contact us directly at 1-800-888-3589.

    Fantastic
I specified a solar tube style skylight to be added to my main bathroom which has no natural light (no window) and was always dark until a light was turned on. This 10" Velux is amazingly bright on sunny days and does well on overcast days. This photo is from an overcast day and still lights the room. It also does not collect moisture when showering but I do have an exhaust fan with light but the mirror will fog even with the fan on.

      Sun Tunnel Skylight are Great
We had Three 10 inch VELUX Sun Tunnel Skylight installed on Monday 10/19/20, one in the kitchen, two in the living room. They have truly added light to the rooms which was a great improvement for the area.

        I can see the light
I was in the dark until I had two sun tunnels installed last week.

          Love the light
My hallway is like a cave, buried in the center of the house. My friend has a similar floor plan but has two solar tubes they are so effective I constantly was trying to turn off the lights when I exited the hall. Now I have the same experience but have learned not to try to turn off the lights when exiting. Now after 12 years of having a cave I have bright light in it. Also got the solar powered LED night light feature. Previously when having company had to suggest the leave lights on so they could see at night, now the hall looks like moon light. Very pleased.

Happy to have more natural light.
We had three sun tunnels installed by a five star installer. Cost of the project was just shy of $5000. Wish I would have investigated a bit more before proceeding. The trim rings allow you to see the four mounting screws. Called customer service and they said someting about white tape to cover the screws. The highest unit is about 15 feet in the air and has about 9 dead bugs in it. Thought these would have been sealed better. I have not removed them yet because now I need to buy a 12 foot step ladder to service this unit. We had a electric light install in another and it is a florescent buld with an odd base connector. The contractor removed an existing can light and tossed the fixture into the attic while using it as a junction box. Not sure I would call that upto code or expected of a five star installer. The trim rings are also difficult to remove as there is not much to grip onto to rotate the ring off.

Let there be light and there was!
My house was so dark in the living area and due to the pitch of my roof, I wasn't able to have skylights. Sun Tunnels were the only option if I wanted more light. They are awesome! My friend even turned back the other day to remind me to turn out the lights then realized I didn't have any lights on. It was the Sun Tunnel.

                Wonderful Passive Light Source
TSR 10” Sun Tunnel installed 2 years ago. Amazing. Always think lights switch left on. BUT time to get dead bugs out. Got Trim Ring off. No clue of how to get diffuser removed. Ideas?

                  Add the Solar night lite.
Lots of light. Have one in my hallway and one in my dining room, where I have limited light. Also added the solar night which adds another dimension.

Love the light, hate the bugs.
Had mine professionally installed by a contractor last year as part of a remodel. Put it in the utility room with no natural light. What a difference! Love how much light it lets in even after sundown. Unfortunately, within a couple of months there were a least a couple dozen dead, squarish bugs about 1/2" long in it. The contractor came back and cleaned them out and checked the installation and said everything was tight. But the bugs just keep accumulating. When I try to twist the trim ring to take it off to clean them out, it won't budge. Afraid I will break it. This sucks because I love the light but the bugs look terrible and are unavoidable when you look at it. So again, based on the performance, this tube is great. But the bugs really bring down the satisfaction. Not being able to easily clean it just compounds the issue.

Having bugs on the diffuser lens can be disconcerting. These little bugs can get through the tiniest of openings to get towards the light. Please ensure that all screw heads, holes or tubing seams are covered with aluminum tape to prevent other insects from getting into the tubing. Please email us @ vcustomer.service@velux.com for instructions on how to remove the trim ring and diffuser to clean that area of that debris.
