Product Details

This highly highly reflective 2 ft. rigid extension tube can be installed with 10 in. VELUX Sun Tunnel Skylights. Rigid tubes have a highly reflective inner surface for excellent light transmission and provide brighter, whiter light output in any application. This makes them ideal for installations that require longer tube lengths.
  • VELUX Flexi Loc tube system allows easy installation of tubing without the use of screws, reducing time on the project
  • ZTR 010 extension tube is designed specifically to be installed with 10 in. VELUX Sun Tunnel Skylights, including TGR, THR, TSR and TMR in size 010

Q:I NEED TO USE AN EXTENSION ON A RIGID 10" SUN TUNNEL. BOUGHT THE 2' ONE BUT IT MAKES IT TOO LONG. CAN I CUT THE EXTENSION? USING WHAT KIND OF A TOOL?. WILL THIS DIMINISH THE LIGHT THAT COMES THROUGH? THANKS

Answer This Question

A:  You can use sheet metal snips to cut the the tubing extension to the desired length needed. Use sheet metal screws to connect those pieces together. As long as the overall length is not over 20 feet, there will not be a decrease in your light output.

    A:  The short answer would be yes. Make sure you allow a few inches of overlap on each end. Fit everything together BEFORE you cut a hole in your roof so you do not have any unexpected surprises. We used the 2 foot extension for our particular installation. We did not have to cut the extension. We are very happy with our lights. We had professional help with the first two and did the third one on our own. Our roofer showed us step by step how to install the lights. We want two more. One for a dark stairwell and another for an inside bathroom. We would also recommend having two persons - one for on the roof and one for in the attic.

      A:  Yes, my extension was too long, but I slid it inside the other tube and used sheet metal screws to hold it in place.

        A:  I am not sure about the kit you are talking about. I am assuming if they are both the same manufacturer, you can. I used one extension with mine but had a guy who was knowledgeable install it. I would call Solatube manufacturer to be sure. They will know more.

            A:  I don't think so, since these are supposed to be airtight, and the diff. brands may not match-up.

            Good light, poor reveal
            Had a new rigid tunnel installed along with roof a few weeks ago. The sun tunnel adds a much needed influx of natural light to my livingroom but as many other reviews note the diffuser ring inside looks very cheap and has screws visible through it. Most of the pictures I had seen before getting it showed a white trim ring that sits flush to the ceiling and covers all of the hardware underneath, this one is nothing but clear plastic that all of the mounting hardware is visible through and it sits up off the ceiling creating a bit of a halo effect around it. I'm happy to have the light in my room but wish it looked more clean and professional on the interior.

            Thank you for your comments. This updated diffuser was supposed to include a white ring that hides the supporting hardware and provides a nice, clean appearance.               Horrible looking trim
              The trim on this light looks SO terrible! Cheap looking clear plastic that you can see screws through?! I will be calling customer service and I hope they have a solution because I’ve now spent a lot of money on this item plus installation.
