Product Overview

The WM-2500-HTD wine cooling unit packs 1000 more BTU of cooling capacity into the same space as the WM-1500-HTD. The Wine Mate HTD line represents our latest innovation in climate control and the 2500HTD unit has a capacity of up to 200 cu. ft. or 612-bottles. This self-contained unit not only controls the temperature in your cabinet but also moderates the humidity to a much greater degree than previous models. The new design has also been optimized for better distribution of cool air. Wine Mate cooling systems are some of the finest-made, longest lasting, and most reliable systems on the market. They are manufactured to the highest quality standards. This unit features humidity and temperature digital control using patent-pending technology. An oversized evaporator provides subtle cooling, with tube-axial fans for both the condenser and evaporator. Extra insulation is provided for both thermal and noise isolation. Do not buy this product
I bought the unit and it wont go under 62 degrees. I fix my wine room to accommodate unit exactly to their requirements and it does not work. To load as well.

Longevity on these units is always poor. But since I have only had it 1 month I am not rating it based on what I suspect will be a short shelf life. Rather, it is getting two stars because of price and the noise level. A thousand bucks for a refrigeration unit is simply absurd. You can buy a brand new refrigerator for less. Some day GE or Kenmore will figure out they can run Wine Mate out of business and sell replacement units for $300-$400 dollars. Until then, we all get ripped off by Wine Mate and similar purveyors. The noise level is also ridiculous. We have this unit in a cabinet that sits in our living room and it sounds like a 737 is preparing to take off when it starts up. It then hums very loudly throughout its cycle -- such that we end up turning the TV volume up by 10 points during the cycle. My kids can hear it THROUGH THE WALL and with their doors closed. It is holding the temperature in the hot summer months, so that part works for now. But the noise and high price make this a two star rating for me.

    Excellent Value and Quality
I have had 3 previous wine cellar units in the past and this one was the easiest to install and set up. I have a small cellar of about 220 cubic feet with around 400 bottles in it. It took this unit less than 10 hours to bring the room back into temp from the 70 degrees it had risen too when the previous unit failed. It is pretty quiet and only runs intermittently, where as the previous unit seemed to be running all the time. Like all of these units, I still wonder why they are so much expensive in comparison to an air conditioner of the same size.

    Works as advertised
The unit works well as temp in the wine cellar was at 60 degrees in an hour and at 56 by the end of one week. The wine cellar is full, has 150 bottles in it as well as olive oil etc. I am happy so far.

    Wine Mate 2500HTD Cooler
Several years ago, I purchased a 600 bottle wine cooler that had a Wine Mate 2500CD cooler. The cooler maintained temperature well, but I could not get the humidity above 37 percent. Concerned about cork shrinkage, I purchased a 2500HTD cooler several weeks ago. After rehydrating the cabinet by spraying water on the sides with a fine mist sprayer, the 2500HTD has consistently maintained the temperature at 57 degrees and the humidity between 70-75%. The price of the unit was rather steep, but the costs pale in comparison to the the value of my wine collection! I would highly recommend the HTD series coolers for anyone who is having a problem maintaining a proper humidity in their cabinet.
