As I have done in the past I am using this steel cut pipe for a different purpose than it was intended. I have a bench top drill press that I built a table for. Anyone else whose done this will tell you that the up/down crank has to be extended. This pipe was perfect for it. The ID was just a bit larger than the hub it needed to fit. After cutting the pipe to size I drilled a hole use a tap and a hex bolt to attach. For the handle end I mounted flange and made a simple round wood piece to attach it to. The pic I've included shows it with the table removed so you can see how I used it. It is strong, sturdy and works great.

Well, this pipe has been a great item for us. No gas connected with it here. We used it as a support for the display of a feather flag for our business. It's a lot better than any other way of rigging it. We simply weld a threaded connector normally used to connect two pipes together to the hitch of our vehicle and screw the pipe into it and insert our flag onto the pipe.

Be careful to check threaded ends when buying this and similar pipe sections. Even though ends are protected I have had a few pieces with defectively cut threads. These pieces leaked badly even though sealed carefully with gas rated tape and torqued very tight. Other individual pieces from various manufacturers, installed the same way, did not leak Quality control is not up to a good standard. The value of wasted time is higher than the price of the product.

Black iron pipe for project.
Basic black pipe did the job. Only problem is I only needed the less expensive galvanized, but was out of stock at the store I visited, so paid $5 more to just get the job done.
