Product Overview

  • Plant in spring in a full sun to partially shaded location
  • Produce a strong, sweet fragrance
  • Bulbs are shipped in a dormant state, ready to plant after frost
Tuberose Polianthus is tropical and native to Mexico. These unique, waxy, white tubular, multi-petaled blossoms open up to 2 in. across and appear in loose clusters on the upper part of the stems. Long-lasting and very suitable as cut flowers with their sweet, heady fragrance. They are among the most strongly perfumed of all flowers. Use in borders, containers and as cut flowers. Deer and critter resistant. While noted for its beauty and ivory elegance, it is the delightful fragrance that makes it special. It will give your house that flower shop freshness.
  • Double vibrant blooms
  • Are among the most strongly perfumed of all flowers
  • Excellent as a cut flower
  • Bulb size jumbo
  • Fun fact: it takes over 1200 kg of buds to render 200 gm of tuberose absolute, which makes tuberose 1 of the most costly natural raw materials to use
  • Use in borders, containers and as cut flowers
  • Tuberose polianthes is tropical, native to Mexico
  • Plant in spring after the weather is relatively warm, avoid muddy areas as they don't like wet feet
  • In northern locations plant in a protected sunny location, in zones 8 and above they can be left in the ground year around

I forced these bulbs indoors like I do my Dahlias. New England takes a long time to warm up in the spring. The Tuberose bulbs didn't look very good when they arrived. After 2 weeks I dug them back up and there was absolutely no life to them at all. Another bulb I ordered didn't fare too well either. I'd like a replacement, but there's no place on this website to do that. I have to go into a local Home Depo and return these bulbs. Major inconvenience to me. I won't be shopping for bulbs here again.

I ordered quite a few bulbs this spring, all have been planted and all sprouted most are flowering except for these not one of this 5 pack has even sprouted! I am shocked and rather upset as this was not inexpensive. I'm still hopeful but as its June 18th I'm sure I should have seen sprouts by now. Any help would be appreciated.

My review isn't necessarily reliable based on one specific: I have no idea on germination/sprout time. The bulbs were planted the day I received them, approximately 4 weeks ago I think (unsure at this moment). No sprouting evident in any of the planting spots. I've arbitrarily decided to wait until the end of July to decide if they are dead, or if they are just taking their time. I'm going on memory, but I don't recall seeing a clear/obvious statement regarding expected germination/sprouting time. If I'm wrong on that, no harm-no foul. Otherwise, it might be helpful to have a CLEAR statement regarding expected sprouting time with the planting instructions.

All 5 have their flower stalks up right now, they will open soon. Very happy with these and I will be purchasing more. I have them planted in loose well draining soil, they are planted very shallow and get full sun, they are beside my roses and irises so they have the same conditions as those do and they seem happy.

Its now the 16th of July, I still have not seen any sprout from these 5 bulbs. If you read below there are 7 reviews none of us have seen any growth! Looks to me like we are all hosed. What I don't understand is there are people that are giving 5 stars for a product that has not grown!? If these bulbs are not expected to come up the first season, that needs to be said. Otherwise I think everyone who ordered these deserves a refund. In my past review I expressed I would like a reply, but got none. I wont be ordering through Home Depot next season.
