Happy to help! Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty can be used to repair stained or finished wood surfaces. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3
Happy to clear things up. Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty will not harden, so it cannot be drilled into. Instead, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Filler. It will dry hard enough for drilling into, but you would need to stain it. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Varathane-12-oz-Wood-Filler-340228/305626726? - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5
Thank you for reaching out! To ensure the best results, we recommend storing Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty away from UV rays and in a space that won't have vary high or low temperatures. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3
Viewing the picture you sent those scratches don’t look bad. Prior to doing anything about your door trim, take your picture of the scratches and go to your local Home Depot paint area. The Associates in that Dept have the correct putty that you may need and they can match the stain.
Happy to help, Chery! The Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty is ideal for use on minor defects after assembly and finishing of a surface. We recommend that any excess putty from the surrounding area be removed using a plastic putty knife or damp cloth. The product will not harden to a sandable surface; however, you can certainly use it on your interior door. We hope this helps! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1
Glad you asked, JD! Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty can definitely be used on pressure-treated lumber. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5
Happy to help, Mike. Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty can not be sanded because it does not harden. If you need something you can sand and stain, then we suggest using Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Filler instead. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Varathane-12-oz-Wood-Filler-340228/305626726 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5
I didn't pay attention to that in specific I had holes that needed to be filled.
Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty is not recommended for use on PVC. This product is for interior use only on wooden surfaces like furniture, table tops, doors or cabinets. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 4
Great question, Kristie. We don't recommend using Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Putty for that type of application as it will not harden. If the areas are just small cracks or holes, then you could use Rust-Oleum Varathane Wood Filler instead. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Varathane-12-oz-Wood-Filler-340228/305626726 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5
