Vaughan Bear Saws are made to cut on the pull rather than on the push stroke. This allows for a thinner blade, which removes less material. This makes sawing easier, faster and more accurate. Bear Saw blades are durable spring steel, plated for rust resistance. The specially ground, tri-edge teeth are impulse hardened to retain their sharpness.

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes there are some websites that sell them or you can go to http://www.vaughanmfg.com/shopping/Departments/Bear-Saw-Hand-Saws.aspx and order them.

A:  That is a good question, since I have never been able to find anyone who can sharpen these saws. I have never seen replacement blades for these types of saws. Since the handle looks to be a relatively cheap plastic molding, I would guess that the handle is a small part of the price of the saw, and so low volume sales items like replacement blades might actually be as costly as a new saw anyway.

    Vaughan Bear Saw Pull Saw
Over the years, I’ve bought several Japanese style pull saws and love them. I mostly use them on woodworking projects because of their thin kerfs and the great control I have using them when I am mitering thin or delicate molding and trim pieces. The 8 ½-inch saw has specially ground, hardened tri-edge teeth for clean cross-cutting. Since the cutting is on the pulling stroke there is no blade flex and it is easier to stay on the mark than with typical saws that cut on the pushing stroke.

Jobs that only this saw can perform!
Keey tool in my woodworking kit. There are jobs that require an extra thin, fine cut pull blade and this is an economical saw for the job. Use it for a lot more than my purchasing expectations. Saw is still sharp despite years of cutting hardwoods such as red oak & maple. Quality of a higher priced saw made afordable for the average user.
