After "IDA" The Vector kept us going for weeks.
We thought a 100 watt inverter would be enough for a radio and some lights during emergencies. When hurricane "IDA" hit Terrebarrone Parish, we had to rely upon the 100 watt inverter for emergency lighting and the radio news. When we lost power for weeks after "IDA' hit us, we learned that 100 watt has short comings. It could only be use with the whole unit hanging from a car auxiliary power outlet, and had no clamps to connect to a battery. It pulled the power socket out of the back of our suv console [pic #1] and it had only one 3 prong power outlet. We were without power for weeks after "IDA" hit us. We used the 100 watt inverter, but even when it was pugged into a power source it could only light up one 75 watt bulb or a transistor radio, but not both. We got the Vector inverter when we went to Home Depot for rebuilding supplies. Now our Vector 500 watt power inverter has many Features that have Advantages that we can now receive some Benefits that we needed. With the Vector pugged into a power pack we were able to charged our devices and at the same time it's two power outlets powered a small tv and two lights. [pic #3] It even has a built-in cooling fan. We also had a small gasoline inverter to run a window A/C unit and our fridge. The Vector kept us going for weeks. Hope this was helpful, if so please press the helpful link.

Very handy
This is a very handy inverter. 500watts is plenty of power for most small electronics. It comes with two wire connectors; one connector with large alligator clips for a car battery and one with a cigarette lighter style 12v power auxiliary plug. I have a large 12v deep cycle battery that I intend on using with the inverter on a power outage to run the gas fireplace blower to help heat the house. I can also use the usb ports to charge our phones and such. It looks well made and is a good size for a 500 watter.

Great power inverter
This is a great power inverter option by Vector. Able to be powered by your car’s battery or the 12v DC plug in your vehicle. The power inverter has 2 120 volt AC outlets and 2 3.1 amp usb charging ports. This will allow you to power small digital devices such as laptops and gaming systems but should be able to power your tools that are under 500 watt start up wattage. Overall I like the inverter but have only used it to power electronics on car trips. Not sure if the inverter will over heat when powering corded power tools but seems like it should be able to handle it. The inverter comes with safety features such as short circuit, overload, thermal, ground fault, high and low voltage protection. The inverter also is equipped with a cooling fan to prevent over heating. Finally there is a one year warranty on the power inverter.

Just what I needed!
I got this because there are many times especially in my truck that does not have USB connections, I can now charge my laptop, ipad and phone. I also can use this when I need a regular plug in that my truck also does not have. This unit two USB connections, and two regular plug ins that provide up to 500 watts of power to the device your trying to use. In my case its usually a drill. I love the ability to plug it into my lighter plug in or directly on the battery! This allows for multiple uses. I have tried several different products like this and by far this one has the most options and the largest power output!

Travels with me in my truck
The Vector 500-watt Portable Power Inverter hardly takes up any space and stores easily in the storage bin of my truck. I primarily got this inverter to run my power tool battery chargers while out on sites without any power. But, it’s also nice to have available when you’re on the road and should you need to power a portable tire inflator, emergency lights or other auto accessory.

A good inverter
This inverter works well for low powered electronics. The inverter is a little noisy with its fan running all the time, but it makes sense that its there. Its nice having both connection options; one for inside the car and another for direct connection to the battery. I was able to use this inverter to charge a small battery powered work lamp and then power a small non-battery LED work lamp. It will definitely work for more obvious things like a laptop, phone or tablet. The inverter has a protector built in that will shut the inverter off whenever the electrical draw is too much, which is nice to have so that you don't blow the fuse on your car.

Good for Accessories
This 500 watt portable car power inverter with the dual USB ports made by Vector is a great accessory to have if on a road trip or camping where you need extra power for phones, lap tops or anything that needs to be plugged in. Able to plug it into the cigarette lighter or directly to the vehicles battery. This product has to be attached to a power source to work. It’s not a portable power supply. Easy to use and high quality material. I would recommend this and pair it with a portable power supply or generator and you are set for all situations.

Vector delivers
Vector's 500 watt power inverter delivers up to 500 watts and let's clarify that right now. There are two color-coded posts, negative and positive, and two sets of cables that have eye-ends to mount on screw-down posts. The smaller wire is for the cigarette lighter and this will get you something like 300 watts. Where you get 500 watts is when you use the other, thicker, clamp-onto-battery clamps cable set. Then you get up to 500 watts. What will 500 watts do? For me, I can run an extension cord from this unit in the car into and through a house window (lined with a towel to protect the extension cord) where I have plugged in my wood stove fan, plus a laptop and two phones AND a lamp. So for a few hours, I can get heat, light, and electronics. Yes, I do have a generator but I have had a situation where it either did not start or I ran out of gas. So this inverter is Plan B for emergency power coming from the car. I can leave the car on in park for a number of hours as in overnight because I live in a rural area and get power into the house. Twice we slept on the sofas but we had heat and light for a number of hours thanks to the inverter. There is no way to connect or mount the inverter; I used Velcro. That keeps it in one place and not on the console or on the floor. When I need it in another car, I tug and remove it. What else? It is nice to have the ability to charge tools where there is no electricity. The car and the inverter take care of that. For a few hours in an outage situation, I prefer the inverter because it is easier than pulling out the generator, wheeling it into place, hooking up the feed from it to the house distribution system, starting it, and so on. Plus it is much quieter. On trips, this is great for two laptops, and two smartphones. I have used a multiplug in one outlet to add a GPS. I also have a very small travel refrigerator/warmer that I can keep sandwiches in for the kids. We have never tripped it nor needed to reset the inverter. No you can't vacuum or make coffee or run a toaster oven but there is enough power during a car trip or an outage at home to keep things going. My phone becomes the hot spot and everyone streams from the charged laptops. The cords are a bit short and I direct this at the thicker clamp-type cable. It would be nice to have a longer set if you wanted to cut off the clamp ends and attach directly to a car battery, and run the cables through a spot on the firewall of the car to get the cables to the inverter. This would limply a permanent setup but this would give you the 500 watts in the car. Otherwise, it is pull out, switch cables, clamp up on the battery, and use it outside the car. One thing I like with an inverter is you can use a heating pad in the car while driving. I have one older car and when I travel in it, I appreciate the heating pad keeping my back loose. You really do need a power source in a car, beyond two USB ports. This is your solution. I find this product to meet my needs.

This product is a great tool to have when you need some some extra power!
I have seen other power inverters for sale, but this is the first one I have owned. I was impressed with the amount of wattage produced from such a small sized product. Everything is very compact. It is limited to being connected to voltages between 11 V and 15 V which pretty much means a regular car battery. There are two kinds of connectors that come with it, one for connecting directly to the car battery and the other for connecting to a charging plug receptacle inside the car. This comes with two types of plugs built in which produce two different levels of output. Two USB ports will charge/run laptops, phones etc. and two standard extension cord outlets for running 120 Volt items. It does have safeguards such as fans and sensors for overheating but still should NOT be placed in a confined area I really like the size and weight of the product. It is easy to carry/handle. It does have an on/off button which allows it to be connected to car battery but only draw power from the battery when it is turned on.

My husband said this is super easy to install and use with our vehicles.
The inverter is light weight at 1 pound 4.4 ounces and has a small footprint at 8 ½ x 4 x 2 3/8 inches. The light-weight and small size of the inverter makes it easy to store in our cars for camping trips or in an emergency. The end-to-end charging cord lengths are 26 inches for the 12V DC adapter used in the cigarette lighter socket for a max power output of 120 watts and 26 ¼ inches for the car battery alligator clips cable for a max power output of 500 watts. We’ll mainly be using the inverter for charging all of our cell phones on any trips with the kids. Made in China. We’re very happy that it gives us 2 extra USB charging stations!!
