Perfect for my new fireplace

Easy to cut with an angle grinder, all edges are natural/rocky looking grooves so plan to have concrete grout line repair/filler handy as you wont get a smooth seam butting up unless you've cut it. My only complaint is nothing indicating HD would be shipping these on a full size Estes truck to our home and we live on a tight single lane rural road with no turn around...that was fun. Used as a fireplace hearth and they are a perfect match to our spring creek airstone. It cures to a grey just a smidge lighter than standard concrete grey, so blends well with any stones we looked at to match up.

I had the same issues other people had. I ordered 2, and 1 was approximately a 1/4" thinner than the other. One was also darker in areas than the other. I had to finish the project and couldn't wait another week for a replacement, so I had to shim one to get them flush. They did look good after they were installed.

I chose the taupe color because a reviewer said he liked it best. I'm attaching a photo of our new fireplace with 4 taupe hearth stones and HD's MS International 6x24 inch golden honey ledger panels . Candlesticks from Kirklands. Mantel is 6 ft. long. We are pleased with the result. These hearth stones definitely need a good sealer, or they will stain like mad!! The workmen managed to get them a bit dirty before I was able to seal them, it was VERY hard to get the dirt off!!!! I used Stone Tech's "Bulletproof" sealer for natural stone and put on two coats per instructions. The sealer was not detectable at all, which is what I wanted!! My husband got soot on the hearth and it washed off with no problem!!! Yay!!!

I ordered 4 of the stones in the chocolate color. Waiting for the stones was holding up my fireplace remodel so, I was very anxious to get them ASAP. I tracked them and set up my phone to get messages when it moved. I got messages 3 days in a row that they were out for delivery. After a few phone calls, I found out that, because I was a residence and not a business, they needed to set up an appointment for delivery. Not sure way they never contacted me to do that, and I wonder if anyone would have ever called me. The stone were finally delivered. I opened the box and the first one I pulled out was great. However, the other 3 had dark squares in the middle of them. I wondered if they were still curing. After 3 phone calls, I was able to talk to the manufactured. From looking at the pics I sent them, they told me that they THINK they are still curing. They said it could take up to 30 days to cure completely. I wasn't going to set them in mortar and then find out in 30 days that that wasn't the problem, and I didn't want to put my project on hold for 30 days to make sure as they were only guessing that that was the issue. So I returned them. I'm giving 2 stars because all customer service people were very nice and they were easy to return at the local Home Depot. Not many people have 30 days to wait and see if a product they ordered may or may not be okay.

Due to the reviews stating the colors shown online were not reflective of the actual colors of the stone, I decided to buy one each of blanco, mojave, sand, slate, taupe, and walnut, then buy more of the color I wanted. Unfortunately, I can't tell what the named color is for at least half the stones even when I lined them side-by-side and compared them to the website's photos. I even called in help from my family and they were equally baffled. It would have been nice if the stones were labeled. One stone is very white, which I assume is blanco since that means white in Spanish, but if you look online, blanco is a bit tan. Another stone (the one on the very left in my photo) just looked old and ugly. We had no idea what color it was supposed to be. I even wiped it down just in case it was just dusty like another stone was. The shown side of the stones is textured, and the other side is rough with small bumps. The smooth side was not as even as I would have liked, but admittedly this part was my fault for not noticing this detail in the photos online. Freight shipping went well. They only deliver curbside, which for us meant in our front yard just outside our front door, which was fine with us. They call you the day or two before to confirm you will be home to accept and sign for delivery. If not, you can reschedule. Packaging was good. The stones were heavier than I expected even when I moved them one at a time into the house. I will likely return all of the stones because I prefer a smooth surface and because even if I wanted to order more, I don't know the name of the color of the stone I like, which is the second from the right in my photo. I'm counting on another review stating returning was easy.

Very pleased: I chose the slate hearth stone because I saw some projects on the web in which the product looked a lot lighter than the samples on the Home Depot selection. And the slate was lighter but was just what I needed. Looks great with the spring creek airstone veneer on my hearth. The hearth stone cut nicely for an end piece with a diamond circular saw blade. A couple of the hearth stones where a tad uneven, just to let one know incase you absolutely need a perfectly straight and aligned application. And it would of been nice if they but up a little tighter, that is if this was a perfect world. Thanks for the great service. Cheers!

There is slight color differential on the outer edges of the stone, as well as rough and eneven edges, that make the stone look unlevel. It looks ok after a professional installed it and made several adjustments.

Used this product for a fireplace hearth. I cut the sides of the stones with my skill saw and a masonary blade, then placed them end to end. I used masonary bonding glue to adhere them to concrete backer board. Made a beautiful hearth for my gas stove. This is in my basement work shop.
