Questions & Answers

metal roof install

i need to install one of these in my metal roof . I have 9 in. rib style roof. Any ideas on how to install top under the steel while the bottom gets over the steel.
Asked by: Jimbob
Hello Jimbob, The opening of the fan is 15", which unfortunately requires a curb be built to raise the vent up off of the surface of the roof. This will prevent water from working its way back up the roof and underneath the flashing.

I need to run the fan in the winter, would I be able to wire in a timer?

Asked by: Keith
Hello Keith, The fan can be wired with a timer as long as the contacts for the timer are rated at the amperage that the fan will draw. In this case it would need to be rated at or above 5 amps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I had BAD luck I live in the Southwest and need this. I purchased one to replace my old fan that had lasted about 10 years. It lasted two days then the motor quit, so I got another, same story, two days later the motor quit. Now I'm getting a more expensive fan from the other guys.... Hope I have better luck with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warranty not so good Fan looks nice on my roof. I have only had the fan for a month installed. The motor has gone out and I now have to send back the motor (at my expense) to receive a new motor. Not sure how this was a great deal. We will see after I get the new motor and installing it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I purchased the fan to keep my attic space cooler on hot days. I read the reviews prior to purchase and install and noticed a lot of comments about the fan being noisey. During install I removed the screws from the bracket that attaches the fan to the housing, inserted small pieces of rubber and then re installed the screws. I did this to try to limit the vibration and noise transmission. Noticed during install that the round screen was too large and I was worried about vibration noise so I folded it to make a tighter fit. I am pleased with the fan's performance so far. I can barely hear it run and my upstairs is noticeably cooler

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Believe to be a good purchase I'm 65 years old and installed it myself--you'll probably need a saws all to cut a hole in the roof--I made a template from cardboard / marked it between the beams in my attic and cut -took less then 5 minutes. Adjusted the thermostat to about 105-110---The wiring was as easy as hooking up a light!!--I hooked up a extention cord (Temporary )--will install a switch later

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is a huge disappointment I installed this attic fan and in less than a week it was making more bearing noise than the previous unit it replaced. It sounds terrible. The motor in the previous unit seized after some 20 years in service. This is bearing noise -not fan noise and it is obvious that it will fail soon. Now I have to go back on the roof to remove it and into a very hot attic to disconnect the electrical connections. I AM VERY UNHAPPY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How will I be compensted for this huge inconvenience ???????????????????????? J. W. Litchfield

Rated 5 out of 5 by from exceeds my needs and expectations I use this product to ventilate my 1 1/2-car detached garage. It removes the heat that builds-up especially in the upper rafter storage area. It lets the garage be usable and workable on all but the hottest of Summer days. It blends-in great with the roof; just order a dome color that closely matches your roof color. I recommend professional installation unless you have carpentry and roofing skills. I had mine done by the company that installed my new roof a few years back. The difference is so great, I wish I did this longer ago. For a 2-car garage, I would recommend the higher CFM model. I will also be ordering the lower CFM model for my storage shed/workshop. I highly recommend this product line.
