WARNING: This Plant Eats Live Bugs. Yes, this infamous Venus Fly Trap is carnivorous and eats flies, crickets, spiders and other insects, either alive or dead, by luring the bugs into its open jaws and then snapping shut. The bug is trapped and the plant digests the insect. An actively growing adult plant that is already 1-year-2 years old, which needs no plant food to grow nor bug spray for pests. While native to the subtropical wetlands of the Carolinas, this extremely specialized variety is grown from tissue culture rather than taken from the wild. Best to grow in warm areas outside where insects abound and then when cooler weather arrives, over winter inside. Growing instructions are included. Definitely a great kid's gift yet a fun and entertaining novelty gift item for practically anybody.
