Questions & Answers

What do you use to cut this plastic lattice?

I need to cut this lattice to 3'x8' section for a pet, and wonder if it's difficult to cut with a hacksaw, or if some other tool would be better (since I'm cutting the longer part).
Asked by: sandybeach
Hey, I'm just a girl and don't go in for all that sawing and snipping and manhandling stuff. I just put the blade on backwards on my skilsaw and cut it. That way I don't rib the lattice up and I get a clean, even cut. But be sure to pull your hair back!

Brazilian walnut color looks nice on web site however it is difficult to evaluate this color on the screen. how can I get an in person view of the color?
Asked by: bubba
Like almost all images on the computer, or in print, the colors are never exactly what the actual product is, and the color in person is influenced by the color (measured in Kelvin) of the light used to light the product. In this case, I would describe the lattice as "almost black". If the actual color is really important to you, and you cannot find an example in the store, I would suggest buying one and seeing what it looks like in the location, and lighting color, where you plan on using it.

Does this lattice come with pre drilled holes for screws?
Asked by: Eric
No pre-drilled holes, but easy enough to hang without pre-drilling. I'm 72 yo female and only needed someone to help hold it in place.

4 ft. x 8 ft. Wicker Garden Vinyl Lattice is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 743.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sun will cause it to crack Put this around a carport to add some privacy. The side that doesn't get any sun is fine, the side that gets the sun has become brittle and cracked. The end pieces used to hold the lattice in place have even broken into segments so I have taken it down. The cold winter causes it to shrink and fall out of the surround holding it in place. The sun causes it to expand and sag. Now the six panels I originally put up are down to 3 and hoping they will stay up until the end of summer or until I find another solution. Took off the end pieces and just screwed the lattice directly to the carport to try and save what I can. The side that doesn't get any direct sun has been just fine, seems to be less shrinkage and sagging, may be because I cut those pieces shorter to walk down a brick border next to the carport.

Last year we bought eight sheets of this lattice to replace the worn-out wooden lattice surrounding our deck, and spent around $260 for it. We followed the installation instructions but it's apparent the instructions are NOT meant for windy New Mexico weather. We've noticed several of the sheets we installed have numerous cracks where the screws were placed. We wound up drilling additional holes and adding more screws (tightened down) just to prevent further motion and breakage. It's unsightly to look at the broken/cracked areas in this lattice and it appears that we'll ultimately have to replace the panels. If you live in a windy area, make sure and take this into consideration.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Expands and contracts way too much, and tears apart. Installed two 4x8 panels (horizontally) attached to existing wooden posts to give some patio privacy. Used 48 feet of the edging around whole lot, and wood screws to attach, holes for screws bigger than screws. Project done in Spring, temperature around 70. Later, when summer sun hit them, they warped and bowed - temperature around 100. Then winter comes, and temperatures down to zero, the contraction just pulled them away from the screws, and 'they all fall down'. Worthless product unless used in moderate climate with no temperature differentials (where in the USA does that occur?). Probably work fine on a Caribbean island. Needless to say receipt was not kept, so cannot tak advantage of what may also be worthless - a "limited lifetime warranty", since they died and so are beyond their lifetime!

Because I did not have a electric saw I was wondering how I was going to cut it without bothering family and neighbors, and that is when I realize that the lattice was made of vinyl. Even though it took me a couple of hours I was able to use a scissor to cut off what I needed. Thank goodness for that. Anyway, I was able to complete the project I have been working on for quite some time and now it looks great.

It won't stand up by itself (like the stiffer wood lattice) even with the optional edge stabilizers You have to attach it to something with screws. On the plus side you can bend it without it splitting and it will outlast wooden lattice by many years. Plus it comes in 4 colors (white, green, beige & redwood ) so you don't have to paint it to complement your decor

Without a cover, the pond was supplying midnight snacks for raccoons and daytime treats for herons. I cut it to the shape of the pond outline and bent the edges with a heat gun.

The lattice does warp under the sun so give it room to shift around and don’t screw in tight. I used stainless steel #10 1 1/4 pan headPhillips screws for these look on HD.

Of course we have a pier and beam build so it was necessary to keep our puppy and other varmints from getting under. While they are pricey I think they will far outlast the wooden kind.
