Betty, The following is a link from the Home Depot site to help you with installation: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/3c/3c2b9007-1ce5-4660-b1c6-06b155a92d6c.pdf
I just set it on the post. Didn't use adhesive or nails.
I don't know but it's not past 6 1/2 x 6 1/2
Hi John, you will need to contact your local Home Depot store to inquire into store availability.
Pete, this post cap is 5-1/2" x 5-1/2"
No
well no my 6x6 posts tops had there own post cap cut in to them but due to 29 years of weather the cracks were getting bigger so these caps were bought and the sit on top of the post covering the existing cut post caps used clear wood adhesive on the bottom / inside of the new post caps then staples one each side on the thin bottom wood the new cap some straight some at an angle. Its been awhile and now i; wondering if i can spray paint the tops copper....wonder what I should clean them with prior to spray paint?? Any Ideas??
Some of mine have black mole spots I'm wondering what to use to clean them with prior to spray painting them copper again...What do you think? For the most part they all look weathered not shiny so with spots its been 3 winters in MO but I have 3 Norwegian Pines 4 ft away from one side of the deck so its been half shade & half full sun.
It looks like copper to me.
The dimension is for the wood , which is the trim that holds on the copper roof - that fits over your existing posts
