Everything you read says No, but I roughed up my wall tile with sandpaper and glued right over it 2 years ago...it's perfect. Saved so much work and for 200 bucks if I get 5 years instead of whatever...oh well. In fact I am getting second one for basement bathroom since I'm so happy with it. Don't let thin stories scare you or corner concerns...nonsense. If your tub is not square you may have to trim corners a tad...so be patient and don't glue until fit is right. Be sure to use small grove trowel to spread glue so you don't see heavy blobs....I put glue right on tile then placed section. Thin bead of caulk all around after...and transformation is an understatement. I do agree it would be nice if went all the way up wall but finish off with tile edge if it bothers you. Last point, If I had to gut and place over green board I would have tiled...defeats the purpose. Go for it...it comes out great or my mad OCD would have had me rip it out!
I have been told"NO plywood of any kind" Cement board would be best. After that, green board, but cement board is preferred by the pros.
They seemed to be of three different thickness. The corners were flimsy and have structural integrity when glued and standing tall. The side walls have a thickness of around .015 to .020. Think of it as a cheap credit card thickness, the back wall was a bit more robust due to its size, perhaps .025 to .030.
No, this is 5 separate pieces.
Yes, it can be trimmed easily to fit .
Hi Aubrey, Thank you for your question on the Delta Vesuvia 32 in. x 60 in. x 58 in. 5-Piece Easy Up Adhesive Tub Wall 39744-HD model. This unit is currently manufactured in the white finish only, at this time. Best regards, Tanya
Yes, this wall can be cut to fit. Panels may be scored with a utility knife and snapped off.
Hello SHOVEL, Thank you for your question regarding the Peerless Vesuvia 32 in. x 60 in. x 58 in. 5-Piece Easy Up Adhesive Tub Wall and I am happy to help you today. You may trim each side of the back panel of this wall surround to allow it to fit into your alcove as long as you do not cut into the shelving. Please measure the panel several times before you cut it as we do not carry replacement panels for this surround at this time, nor can we cover an improperly cut panel under warranty. To view further dimensions for this surround, please visit the link below: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/de/dee05490-5094-4276-bff8-ed27c509e2d6.pdf I hope this answers your question and if we can assist you with anything else going forward, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 800-355-2721. Thank you, Brandy
They recommend water resistant sheetrock. For me...if you completely gut and do new walls , why not tile. For 200 bucks I would go right over paneling. I went over old tile, after light sanding 3 years ago and it's fine. If you have shallow grooves in paneling be generous with adhesive and trowel on wall one section at a time to avoid drying out. Just center mid section and draw line on each side so you glue within box. Repeat each section.
