Questions & Answers

Does the fan come with a mounting bracket?

I do not see any of the hardware in the listing? Is there a mounting bracket included with this?
Asked by: bigmike47
yes you get mounting hardware and it uses two additional screws to mount and unmount, included. two screws release the barrel. I posted some photos in my review that should clear up your question. simple to work with.

What is the mounting configuration?

Can this product be installed on a 4" vertical stack in a garage?
Asked by: sjmoose
The bracket is part of the fan. Super easy to mount. Pop off the fan part, put screws in the back mount and reassemble. I installed an outlet that was switched off of the existing light switch. Then just plug the fan in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! This fan is a great value. Compares to similar product costing 2-3 times as much from supply houses. Quiet and efficient. Much better than installing fan directly above ceiling.

Ah … Shure … it’s a bathroom, shure it is. 4 foot by 4 foot by 8 feet tall with high humidity, a need for very quiet ventilation. This 4 inch 105 CFM Ceiling or Wall Inline Bathroom Exhaust Fan really fills the bill. Fully grounded [6 foot 120 volt cord]. The fan itself is built primarily of pvc so that it is easy to clean [you can actually leave the housing in place and remove the fan for cleaning] it is rated at 105 CFM and has a low power setting that delivers about 78 cfm. The PVC construction keeps it from rusting out in … “humid environments”. Truly quiet and easy to mount. I highly recommend this unit.

My bathroom is approximately 500 cubic feet and utilizes a 70 cfm exhaust fan, it is undersized, extremely noisy and only has a three inch outlet with a back draft damper. Running it is a waste of electric. I had a choice, either put in a whole new fan, pain, or utilize this inline fan as a booster fan. I was lucky the ducting (4 inch bendable aluminum, T-FIN ) runs up to a 4" roof cap and is about 15 feet straight out from the attic access. I installed a 2x6 double thick vertically off of a truss. This, with the fan mounted, put me actually 4 1/2 inches off the truss. This put me close enough that I was able to cut the T-FIN and attach it to the fan. I had already un-wired the fan so while in the attic I cut off the three prong plug and was able to push both sets off wire thru the grommet. Re-wired, left off the cover, turned on the switch and without any steam/humidity I could tell it was drawing better. The next test was I took a hot steamy shower and it made a considerable difference. My next test is going to be to remove the existing fan, from the bracket, which if nothing else is less restriction to air flow. After all I will have 105 cfm's vs the original 70 cfm's. If that works, no more noise. I think it goes without saying, yes I left the switch on high speed. This fan is very versatile and will work in so many applications. If 104 cfm's are not enough, next up is a 6" 303 cfm.

Very quiet and lightweight - roughly 2.6 lbs - entirely made of plastic approximately 1/16" thick. The fan speed selector switch is conveniently located on the fan housing. The integral mounting bracket has four 5/32" (#6 screw) diameter holes with a bolt pattern of approximately 3 1/16" x 1 13/16" on centers - the overall "baseplate" is 3 15/16" x 4 3/8" x 7/16" thick, but it is not solid plastic, its an "eggcrate" design (see photo). Also note that the fan specifications on the unit differ from that shown in the product information photos provided by the manufacturer. Duct clamps are not provided.

There is no square cover in the middle of the ceiling and I can install the outlet hose anywhere I like. I can put it in the ceiling, on the floor, or even in the wall. I can also install a filter anywhere in the exhaust or even cycle air from floor to the ceiling. This thing is very versatile. I recommend this item.

We have a bathroom that has a long supply air line. We hooked this fan up to come on with the blower. It boosts the flow and makes the bathroom as warm/cool as the other rooms. It has two speeds for better calibration. It runs on 110v and has a build-in 3 prong grounded plug. It could also be used to ventilate rooms that have no ductwork.

I need my body temp around 40f at night, and viagrow's 6" inline could have served as a ceiling fan for me. As it is, it's running bare suspended vertically among indoor plants to bring co2 up from the floor, and for that it forces air better than expected. I'm using this 4" directed horizontally ~6" from my quasi-open motherboard; I have a corsair-style water block on my cpu and run my factory gpu fans 24/7, but I'm getting no difference in reported temps from my motherboard nor headers. I don't even need to audition the 6" to know it would drop temps at least 2-5c. I have no idea how I'd feel about the 4" had I plugged that one in first, but after the 6" at 303cfm I'm underwhelmed. For a bathroom fan, I suspect this moves about as much air as my contractor grade traditional unit, which doesn't move cigarette smoke, but if you plan on using this to cool hps/mh lamps in ducted hoods, I'd strongly suggest getting a 6" and even necking that down if you already own a 4" hood. My 6" arrived without a power switch, so I have an email out to viagrow over that issue, and I ran my understanding of their 4" re lamp cooling, by them -- I suspect all these inline fans are pretty standard, so if they feel I'm being unfair to their -- or any -- 4" inline fan's performance, I'll revise this review. Unless/until then, assuming my 4" is in fact delivering advertised 105cfm, I can't fault this in any way. I live in a growhouse tiny travel trailer with roof air, two portable ac units, soon a ceiling fan, two carpet blowers, mini carpet blowers -- all that said, I don't hear this 4" as loud whatsoever, especially for a bathroom fan. It's 3" from my ears, the roof air is 10'+ from me, but I'd expect to actually hear it to qualify it as "loud." At 6" from the motherboard, it's not threatening the dog and cat hair one bit. Might have to run an additional 20gal air compressor 24/7 for that. But viagrow's 6" would at minimum make the matted animal hair on my memory chips unstable. Finally, I'd not consider running this 4" with an air filter cylinder, but I'd go larger than 6" for that purpose, which of course means more expensive fan and more expensive filter. I'd expect a 6" to work just adequately. And finally-finally, now I know why comments say never get a bare, dirt cheap inline fan for lamp cooling (let alone air filtration) -- I now have a pretty good palpable understanding of what these can and can't do, and a tin cylindrical fan at any size would be useless for any horticultural application, including providing air to an insurance fire.
