The Viagrow Hydroponic Deep Water Culture Vegetative System is an inexpensive 4-site bubbler system designed to take rooted seedlings or cuttings and grow them to vegetative maturity before transplanting them to your flowering room, raised bed, soil or hydroponic garden. Each bucket includes four net cups, a 5 Gal. bucket that serves as a reservoir, air pump, air stone, tubing and 1 oz. drops pH kit. The net pots lay snug and the air pump pumps the reservoir full of highly oxygenated nutrient solution. Maintain or drain water using the attached water level indicator. System comes with Viastone grow rocks. The included pH kit is reliable and simple to use. Red (acidic) indicates that the pH is too low, blue (alkaline) indicates that the pH is too high, a yellow to a yellow-green indicates an ideal pH. Comes with an easy to match pH color chart. Growing nutrients sold separately.

It's a 5gl bucket..so because you only fill to a half inch above basket bottom I would say 4-4 1/2.

Can i buy replacement lids for the Hydroponic Deep Water Culture Vegetative System (4-Site)?
Asked by: JimmieJam
I haven't seen replacement lids, only whole systems. You can buy any 5-gallon bucket lid for $2, then cut only one hole for any size net pot.

Do i need something else after the vegetation stage is comolete

The 4 top bucket may get extremely crowded at full vegetative growth, so think about thinning your crop to one plant per bucket. Don't forget to switch your plant food from heavy nitrogen to heavy potassium for flowering. This is one of the triggers. Change your light settings down from 16-20 hours per day, to 8 hours per day. 2nd trigger. You can also change the spectrum of light from reds to blues, if using LED lighting. If you are using a T5 fluorescent plant light, the spectrum will be be fine for both. Enjoy!

Can this grow plants to full maturity?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, but they will get crowded. Something large like tomoatos, cucumbers, bell peppers, or hot peppers will need to be thinned, or reduced to 1-2 plants total. This system work for the entire life cycle,

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Home-made junk As others have written, this will do the job, but it's junk. The unit is an off-the-shelf plastic bucket you can buy yourself, and the holes are hand drilled, without even a template. The holes are not evenly spaced around the circle and they are also not evenly spaced around the center. The finish on the holes is ultra rough, with all sorts of plastic burrs. The bucket smelled like it had been in a fire. I did not have a leak from the bottom hole like others did, so that is good. Once I assembled the unit and got it running I noticed that the bucket resonates to the vibration of the air pump, making it a great amplifier for the air pump noise like the body of a guitar to its strings. So the noise coming out of this unit is extremely bad. The air pump motor itself is moderately quiet, but because it is a piston pump, the piston action of the air in the water creates sound waves at the frequency of the piston. And you can hear it from many feet away. Bottom line, if you need a quick and dirty solution, this is one for you. Otherwise choose something better or make your own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly put together! I bought this to go with my experimenting on hydroponics. When I received it I was very let down; the air-pump was very cheap and did not push the air required. The already installed 1/2" elbow leaked severely when I put water in the bucket. The hydroton was about 1/4 lb in a brown paper bag that looked like it was taped up by somebody that didn't care about quality. Save your money and time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The product value is getting what you want in less than a week without having to go and get it. Great product for the Urban Farmer.Work that green thumb, aid yourself with the needed tools for success.Healthy plants could be easily started with this DWC bucket. You will be amazed by the root growth and luscious green foliage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great unit for the price! I purchased this Deep Water system for my heirloom lettuce and paired it with the ViaVolt T5 fluorescent grow light. I have never been happier! It's growing twice as fast with the liquid nutrients I added and I don't have to get dirty. I have been pricing hydroponic systems for a while and though this design is basic, the price is spot on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for starting seeds I bought this unit not knowing what to expect. I found that seeds planted in these little peat pot like things, come up within a day or two. Great for starting seeds and cuttings. Not large enough to grow any sort of garden that will produce a lot of food. After seeing how it worked, we jumped in and purchased a very large system with fish and plant beds. The use of this unit helped us to see how it worked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Value The only thing that was wonkey was the holes cut into the lid were very rough and I had to trim the shavings off of the sides, so they don't get into the water.
