Questions & Answers

Can my cat stick his paw into this and get it stuck on the glue pad?

Asked by Lisa January 18, 2021

yes, the sides are open, large enough for two paws, other than that, it traps fleas and any insect that is attracted by the light.

What replacement bulbs do the traps use? The bulbs on 2 of my traps died after only a few weeks, which is disappointing but I want to keep using them.

Asked by Winter June 25, 2020

7 Watt bulb. If you can keep from moving the trap around, or unplugging it, the bulb will last longer.

How many of these do you need for 600 sq ft of living space?

Asked by Susie June 16, 2020

I would use 2 for 600 sq ft. I used one in approx 400 sq fIt.

Can I buy the bulb from you?

Asked by ray March 27, 2020

The bulbs are available at drug stores and anywhere that you buy light bulbs. They are called night light bulbs.

Is it safe..non poisonous, and why does it mention exposing to chemicals and lead?

Asked by Jackie October 20, 2019

I have bought several of these in the past. I took a stray cat in and my house became infested with fleas. I treated my animals and then I plugged these flea traps in. Within a few months my flea problem is gone. I made sure not to touch the pads with my hands. There is a tab that use to pull the trap out after it is full. yes it is safe and non poisonous. The fleas are attracted by the light and then they stick on the trap.

Where is the best placement for the trap? Does it need to be elevated or just on the floor? I hav...

Asked by MustangSally October 20, 2019

On the floor works best. The cats won't bother it.

Do I have to leave it plug in all the time or only certain amount of time?

Asked by Andrea February 11, 2019

Leave on 24/7, I leave mine on all the time, whether or not I am home. And as far as night vs day, don't believe that night is the only or best time, fleas are active 24/7, bright daylight to pitch dark, doesn't matter. I set my traps up around 9-10am when I got them home, within 3-4 hours during DAYLIGHT, I had hundreds, if not thousands of fleas in BOTH traps I had set up. By the next day, because the infestation was so bad, I had to change out the original sticky pads that came with them. Fortunately I bought a LOT of extra sticky pad replacement packs. First couple of weeks I went through a lot, but once the infestation was under control, I continued to keep my traps active all year long, this has kept my flea infestation from re-occurring, and now I replace my sticky pads in the traps when they show signs of being completely full, but mostly I replace mine now at or around 90 days, if the fleas pick up a little, then maybe 60 days or a little less. So buy spare sticky pads, I recommend 2 - 3 packs for every 2 traps, also buy replacement bulbs for them as they will eventually burn out, they use a 7 WATT Clear C7 {Night Light} bulb, make sure it is 7 WATTS and CLEAR. I tried colored bulbs to see if they would work, they don't bring the fleas or other insects into the trap at all. And if you try 4 WATT bulbs, that 3 less Watts of difference will also not work out well, as the lower wattage bulbs do not generate the heat signature the 7 Watt bulb does, which is what attracts the fleas to the trap. It's not really the light at all that draws the fleas in, it's the heat from the bulb, just as the heat from your pet or your body attracts the fleas to bite you. Even though the bulb could be replaced by a heating element to do the same thing, the reason this is a 7 Watt bulb is it is safer for you, pets and children and less likely to cause a severe burn or injury. And there are not toxic pesticides on or used with this trap, it's just a type of glue and non-toxic to humans and pets, especially since my cats when I first got them, put their paws in them, got them stuck on the paw and used their mouth to pull it off. And none ever got sick from having the sticky pad in their mouth. And I've gotten my fingers stuck on one a time or two and didn't think and stuck my finger in my mouth, didn't taste so good, but it never made me sick at all. So I love these traps because they get the flea stuck in there, cuts off the fleas food {blood} supply and the glue clogs the pores in their abdomen and basically just suffocates them to death. Great traps, I highly recommend them for anyone that has indoor pets or those that may go outdoors and bring these little iblood-sucking vampires in with them.

Would using a light bulb with color instead of clear make any difference.?

Asked by Lab3 October 8, 2018

I tested this out with a wide assortment of colored bulbs, they do not work well enough to be of use. Most colored bulbs are 4 watts that fit the standard C7 Socket that these traps use. Their heat output just isn't strong enough, and the color also tends to not allow the bulb to generate the same heat that a clear 7 WATT C7 Night Light bulb will generate and what Victor uses in these traps. Why did I try it? 2 reasons, one I wanted to see if it would work. And 2nd, I wanted to see if I could use a colored bulb to tone down the brightness of the clear bulb for the one in my bedroom and still have the trap be effective. Nope, was a no go. Best thing to do is place the unit behind something and allow the light to reflect off a painted wall, so it's more of an enhanced lighting, than a glaring white light. Just make sure you still have easy access to get to it to change the sticky pad, and/or the bulb when the time comes.

Where do I have to put it, to get better results?

Asked by Monalisa826 August 5, 2018

We have had best results by putting it on the floor. We also found that the light bulb needs to be on. And then we discovered that using this as well as Diatamaceous Earth ridded us of the fleas!

Does it work on black flies

Asked by Joe July 21, 2018

Don't know. Mine worked very well on the pests I had - tiny beetles. If these flies tend to congregate around a lite at night, then yes. This product works on the premise of insects that are drawn to lite. My experience with black flies was in the woods, they were awful ! The price is right on this item, if not useful on the black flies, it will come in handy for other pests. The black flies I experienced were drawn either to our sweat or carbon dioxide and they were relentless.

More than fleas
These work great for more than fleas. I leave 2 on all the time and capture ants, spiders, gnats, large flies, centipedes among other bugs. Leave in dark room at night and it attracts everything.

I already had 1 of these but since this year the fleas seem to be armor clad here in Texas I got another for a different part of the house. I love these things. Put in a dark area in a room and watch them hop for it. In 2 weeks I've almost filled up 1 disk. We also had a short problem with gnats from an old bag of potatoes we missed. As you can see from picture it grabbed them up too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

It not only catches flees, but many other insects that may enter your home. Our cats have brought in few live chipmunks over the past month that have been trapped in our sunroom and were infested with flees and as you can see in the attached photo, IT REALLY WORKS!!! Time to replace the refill sheet. It is safe for my animals. It also acts as a night light.

We sprayed for 4 days and then tried the traps (2 each). The traps worked immediately and the bites stopped. I also tried water with Dawn dish soap and it caught just as many fleas as the traps. Either way, it catches a lot of fleas.

Product works as advertised. I just bought my second one and it does have control the fleas. I would suggest picking up an extra pack of night light bulbs because the ones that come in the package don't last that long. Other than that I highly recommend this product.

Traps scorpions too
Have the traps in every room after removing and treating a badly infested cat. The traps do the job well and trap other undesirables (5 scorpions so far).

I am a fan of ANY of the sticky-paper-type products - which made me want to try this. A Mama cat left her four kittens in our backyard - naturally we left kitten food out for them once we noticed she didn't return. I didn't realize the kittens had fleas (dogs go out front, not in the back on the golf course) and every time I went outside to leave food or toys, I was apparently bringing the fleas into the house myself. The kitties have since moved on, but not the fleas. This is the first time EVER having fleas and we've had dogs almost consistently over the past 35 years, we've even fostered some additional fur babies for a local rescue. I set up The Ultimate Flea Trap and only noticed one or two stuck to the paper for the first couple of days. Once our pug was given oral flea medication, I would brush him near the trap and we noticed more and more fleas stuck to the paper and even some tiny spiders too. I would imagine this would also work for someone with a roach problem...
