Anyone else notice a definite presence of some sort of insect eggs in these? I picked up numerous perfectly round spheres about the size and appearance of pearled cous-cous and they would pop when I squeezed them. I'm trying not to think about it but they looked a lot like round termite eggs. I put 20 bags of this stuff in a raised garden bed so I really do hope I'm wrong.

this is the answer I received from Scotts who makes the soil....... the small beads you are seeing in your Vigoro All Purpose Garden Soil are not insect eggs. Many consumers do confuse these beads with insect eggs. These small tan, yellow, green or clear colored fertilizer particles absorb moisture allowing the liquid fertilizer inside to pass out of the prill and into the soil. If there is a store near you that sells Osmocote Plant Food, you can compare what you found in your soil with the plant food. All Purpose Garden Soil also contains perlite that looks like tiny white gravel. Perlite helps improve the drainage of the soil. The biggest difference between the Vigoro Soil and the Miracle Gro Soil is the fertilizer. Vigoro has an NPK of 0.05-0.05-0.03 and will feed plants up to 9 months. The Miracle Gro Soil has an NPK of 0.09-0.05-0.07 and will feed plants for 3 months.

Why can't this product be used in a pot? Can it kill the plant?

I didn't read the instructions and already used it in a pot.
Asked by: Rose
You need to use potting soil for pot plants. This product would not hold water to keep the plant alive and would not support good root development due to it being full of mulch/wood chunks.
