It's extremely solid, and I would think at least 15 lbs.

It looks like if you screw it into the wall that it hanges downward. Is it down ward or straight.

Downward.

How far does it extend from the wall/post when it is attached?

Previous answers are still unclear. It obviously curves downward. Is the hook 16" from the post or is the arm 16" long, and the hook will be closer to the post than 16"?

Is this made to be driven into a tree?

If by driven you mean screwed into a tree trunk, I suppose they would work so long as you use bigger screws then those supplied by Vigoro. If you mean hanging over a branch then NO! There are other hooks for that available.

Love this product. It is sturdy and attractive. One end is straight and is small enough to fit between the panels on our back patio cover. Perfect for holding our fuchsia plants.

This hook fit on the house and held the hanging plant out away from the house and it allows the plant to get sun and rain so it will grow The planter does not bang into the house when the wind blows. I would use two longer screws than those that come with it if you are hanging a heavy planter.

I would buy another but they are never in stock. Ship to Store was not an option. I drove 25 miles to another store that supposedly have 11 pieces in stock according to the Home Depot website but there was none when I got there. It was a waste of time!
