Full of weeds
We used the red mulch to prevent weeds. Guess what was in the mulch; weed seeds. Spent weeks uprooting these. What a waste of money. Compelled to give one star this product doesn’t deserve

    Different Color
Purchased 20 bags and 1 of them had a different style and color to it. Little disappointed when I poured this into the garden and had to remove. You shouldn't have to, but keep a close eye when purchasing/loading this into your vehicle.

      Decent Mulch, but Some Issues
I just finished a large landscaping project in my back yard that required approximately 50 bags of the Viggoro Brown Mulch… I had used this brand previously after a similar landscaping project in my front yard last year. The price was affordable and I like the bags as I could avoid having a large pile of loose bulk mulch taking up my driveway! The mulch I put down last year held its color for months, still looking brown (albeit a much lighter shade of brown) after approximately a year. I do live in a dry climate, so that may have been part of the reason… Further, I did not experience the weed contamination issues. Weeds did eventually appear, but in significantly fewer numbers than before and were of types already present in my yard previously. My biggest issue with the mulch was the inconsistent type/texture. Some bags contained “nuggets” while others “stringy” pieces. That seems to vary by time of year, e.g. mulch I got in the summer months had the nugget texture whereas mulch I got in the fall/winter was the stringy variety. In short, the Viggoro mulch did what I needed it to do…

        Bark not sterilized
I bought over 50 of these bags and it turns out that 2 or 3 were not sterilized and full of weeds. Exactly what I was trying to prevent. The weeds now need to be removed (>1000) individually as I cannot put Roundup on them due to our dog. See photo.

          BACK TO BLACK
I have always spread the Red color but after spreading the black color. Wow what a difference.

            Weed Infestation
I purchased 80 bags of this mulch (garbage) in 2019 and another 40 bags in 2020, shame on me, and it has infested every bed that I have with Chamberbitter (Gripeweed). This stuff has taken over my beds and crept out into my Zeon Zoysia. There is no getting rid of it. There is another review here from April 27, 2021 stating the same issue. What a disaster. Maybe they offer a weed killer that is a waste of money also. I can’t believe that HD is still selling this trash.

              big mistake
See pictures. Two bags off the same pallet: the contents have completely different appearances and coloring. Non-existent quality control. And how am I supposed to return this?????

                Too many Rocks
After buying and using 30 bags of this mulch, I will not buy again. I realize that once in a while you will get a rock in the bag but this mulch had way too many. I honestly do not think you should get any rocks but the size and quantity from this brand surprised me. For the same price you can get a much cleaner product.

                  Don’t waste your money
I bought 30 bags when they were on sale on memorial day. I didn’t buy enough so last week I went and got 20 more. The difference between bags is unreal. The new bags I bought are faded looks like the color has been washed off. It’s also not even the same size as the other stuff. I emailed the company and I’ve gotten no response. Their two year warranty is a joke. I am going to have to redo the bark because it’s very noticeable. I will never buy this mulch again. In the picture you can see the difference.

Termites found in bag and Color faded too fast
I had ordered 60 bags of this mulch and when spreading it I found termites in 2 of the bags. I immediately shoveled it out of my beds and then went and sprayed the area with bug killer. Fearing that might have missed a few termites and I purchased $55 worth of termite bait traps and put around my house. Also, the bags gives a 12 month color guarantee and after 2 months I would say this mulch has lost more than 50% of it color and is faded. The bag does not provide what the guarantee is or how to contact them. The price is really good on this mulch, but taken the fact that I may have or get termites in my home, it just is not worth it. I would not recommend and will not be buying Vigoro again.
