It can. Casual brushing up against it won't do any major damage.

Is it flammable? Wanting to put it around a fire pit to keep pebbles in place and not on grass, will this melt?

I think it would get too hot to stay upright and hold the rocks in like you want. I would go with the metal edging. You can bend it into a round confirmation or you can make it into a square by simply using a hacksaw to cut through the think rolled edge part. Just cut through that small thick section and then you can bend and shape it into a square. They have u shaped like pins that you connect the sections and ends together and you pound them into the ground. It will be much sturdier in containg the rocks.

Fred. Where are you located? Stock on this product is being shipped out to Home Depot stores weekly. I can be more accurate on your specific store if I know where you are located.

What part is 18” x 18”? The picture shows that it is 20’ long, which would make sense based on the price.

Not really, it may depend on if you want the edge to curve towards one side or not, but it could be easily reversed.

Can this edging be strong enough to hold in concrete? Want to make a curb.

I don't think so. This is soft and flexible not rigid.

Can this be cut? I need 2 lengths of 28 - 30 inches.

Yes. Easily cut by a hacksaw or run snip. Use protective gloves.

This edging is very easy to install. I'm using it in my front yard to keep newly plugged St Augustine Grass in check and in the boulevard portion of my front yard to keep 3/8" pea gravel in place. For long sections, I also use the Vigoro spikes to keep the edging firmly in place.

My wife and I decided we needed edging to prevent grass from migrating into our flower beds. I discussed with our gardener who said this was the best product. But we decided to do this ourselves this April. First be sure and lay the edging out on the driveway or other flat place in the sun. This helps get the plastic to lay flat. Once you have done that, the plastic bends to shape easily. Digging the trench is the hard part. Be sure an have one side vertical for a better look and placement. The Vigoro 8 inch stakes did a great job of securing the edging in the dirt. Do not use other product stakes. The do not penetrate and look poorly. Overall, we are very happy with the neat look of our garden now. Hopefully it will look the same next year too.

These last a long time
I used Vigoro's black plastic lawn edging for a landscaping bed 30 years ago. When I took out that bed years later, I saved the edging and stored it for 15 years. Last year, I made a new landscaping area and edged it with the saved edging. I was very pleased that it had held up over the years and was still in good condition. If you use this and a trimmer to keep grass a couple inches back from the edging, you'll have a good, easily maintained edge that does the job in keeping grass and weeds out of a landscaped area. It's inconspicuous so doesn't detract from the beauty of the landscaping. Even if you want a stone, concrete or wood edging, use this first as a root barrier.

I have tried several different edging options. This is by far the best option I have tried. It keeps the grass out of the flower beds. When mowing, I can run the mower deck right over the edging, so there is no need for trimming. This edging does require a shallow trench be dug for installation. This is easier after a good rain. It is also helpful to unroll the edging and lay it in the sun to help straighten it out before installing it. These are minor and temporary inconveniences compared to the long lasting benefits of this edging.

Should come with the needed metal stakes! Purchasing smaller individual packages was very costly overall. I required over 30 metal stakes to do a 60' job! I will go another way next time but not with this product.

I have purchased the flexible edging previously to separate an area of mulch from marble chips. It sure did the trick and keeps my outdoor beds in order with minimal effort. When it rains hard, I may only have a small amount of mulch that needs to be retrieved... previously it would wash into the gravel area. The edging is flexible and easy to insert into the ground. No problem with it staying in place. I made this area several months ago. Next I am using it to create a coiled effect on a flower bed... using mulch, marble chips and flowering plants... rather than use bricks to create the coil as in one of your featured garden projects. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

I am totally frustrated using this product. I cannot remove the label completely, so it peaks through the gravel and I see it when I am relaxing in the screened porch. I tried everything including lighter fluid to loosen the glue and got my fingers stuck together. After 25 minutes of work, I gave up and just put the product down. There is no need to use such strong glue on the label.
