I've used a variety of landscape fabrics over the years and have been happy with all of them, except this one. I bought it because of the water penetration being higher than the others. The plastic film is very thin, tears easily and, despite killing all pre-existing weeds, carefully cleaning away all debris before applying and covering with 2-3" of mulch, I have weeds growing directly through the film within a few weeks of applying it. I've never had this sort of issue with other fabrics. I see the directions mention using an herbicide before applying and also covering with 3-4" of mulch but these dramatic measures are not necessary with other types of fabric. Picture below is after I had raked away several inches of mulch. I highly recommend buying another product.

I used a string around the base of my Burning Bushes to make a circle with marking paint (saw a landscaper do this somewhere and after some research, decided to DIY to save some $$), then cut the weed barrier to fit the circle, placed the stones on top of the painted circle and weed barrier (hopefully the weeds won't grow in-between the stones), then placed 1/3 of a bag of mulch (that's all I needed for this project - about 1-2" thick so water can get through and not smother the roots) inside the stones which were placed on top of the weed barrier to keep it and the mulch in place. I think the weed wacker won't have very much to do in this area! :) As the Burning Bush grows, I can increase the diameter and repeat the process for the enlarged area. I really like this weed barrier because it also lets the water through so my shrubs will still get the water they need and the ground moist when it's hot outside. It is very easy to cut into any shape desired with household scissors and looks like it will be thick enough to prevent anything underneath from growing through, and hopefully any weeds that grow on top will be simple to remove. We am very happy with the way it turned out. :)

I was trying to buy "weed block" in 6' wide... but it was not available in my store. So I purchased this 3' wide. I have been buying "weed block" to use in my garden for many years. It works way better than the paper-type fabrics. I noticed the product looked different. Not only the packaging, but the pattern on the plastic was not the same. When I used it, I was very disappointed. It seemed thinner than it used to be, and tore easily. I can usually reuse it for 2-3 yrs. This makes it worth the cost. But, I'm not sure about the one I bought.

This excellent material is easier to work with than the old cloth type materials. This appears to be a thin extruded sheet of plastic. This was fairly easy to lay down and stayed in place until I put mulch over it. Time will tell on how well it blocks weeds, but it looks like it will work very well. The very tiny holes should work well on letting water and nutrients through while blocking weeds. I do feel like the price is a little high for such an inexpensively produced plastic sheet with very low weight for shipping costs. That being said, I would buy it again.

I assembled the first phase of my cedar garden plot over 5 years ago, using this Vigoro Weed Block Film directly on top of existing lawn area for use as a barrier to prevent grass and weeds from growing from the bottom of my plot, and this barrier still works. It allows water to seep through, but no vegetation has appeared, not even the pesky Bermuda grass which is common here in Texas. As I added additional plots over the years, I also used this same Vigoro weed blocker and the results are the same. I will say that I use a double layer, and I leave about a foot outside the plot all the way around, staking it down so that I can mow around over it, allowing for a neatly trimmed boundary around the entire perimeter. I assume this barrier will fail at some point and require replacement, but I am exceptionally happy that it has already lasted this long. If and when I finally do have to replace it, however, cost will not be a consideration because this material, in 100' rolls, is very inexpensive. I recommend this Vigoro weed barrier very strongly for any containerized garden area!
