About This Product

The round patterned design of the Vigoro Geometric Trellis brings modern style to your outdoor space, even before your plants start climbing up the structure. This garden trellis provides a solid structure to support and display climbing plants like clematis, ivy, sweet peas, and more. The modern trellis is made from strong welded steel. The black powder-coated finished helps resist rust and weathering. The freestanding metal trellis is 72 in tall and 24 in wide. You can easily install this metal trellis for climbing plants by pressing the pointed tips fully into firm soil. Tip: If soil is hard or frozen, do not force the ground stake into position. Use warm water to moisten or thaw the soil. Do not use your foot to push as this could damage the trellis.

Questions & Answers

Is this sturdy enough to hold mature grape vines or only small grape vines? Thanks!

Answer This Question

not sure. I have only thin vines, but it is very sturdy.

By|Jun 28, 2023

It seems to be sturdy enough to hold mature vines, as long as it is stable in the ground.

What is the width of the frame on each side of the trellis? Thank you for your time and energy in responding.

      Answer This Question

      Is 3/8"

      By|Feb 23, 2023

I can't go out in the snow to measure but if I remember correctly its between 1/4 and 1/2. Whatever it is, it has been very sturdy, one year holding up grapes, the next tomato vines. I have been very pleased with it.

        By|Feb 19, 2023

The width of the frame on each side is 0.40 in. We hope we were able to answer your question.

I use it to support multiple morning glory plants and it works great!  Not sure how heavy yours would be.

Yes, for sure! This is a VERY sturdy trellis. Love it! Be sure you know how tall it is to be sure the heath of the vine will be happy. I used it for morning glories and wished it was 10’

I currently use it for year old Bougainvillea vines, and the trellis well supports the vines.  You do have to weave the branches through the trellis as it grows.

No. Just stand it up, put your foot on the bottom bar and push it into the ground. It is working well holding my grapevine (last year) and tomato vines this year.

How much does the trellis weigh? I want to attach via hinge or zip ties to a wooden fence so that it will swing open/shut like a gate.

Not sure about the weight, but I carried 3 of them out to my car from the store without too much difficulty. They are only 24" wide so it would be a skinny gate, but very pretty.

These are medium duty trellises, best suited for climbers, not heavy pots.

I am using mine to guide heavy branches of a Dodonea. I dug holes deep enough & wide enough to put 2 patio pavers in each hole, supporting sides of legs. I compacted some wet dirt in and around it. It definitely doesn't wiggle at all. I would suggest installing the same way and you would be fine.

I have a domestic honey suckle vine growing fully on mine for several years so far. I did drive a small piece of rebar into the ground and attached it with wire just for additional sturdiness. As for the weight issue the trellis has performed very well. It is freestanding in my front yard.

We purchased it specifically to place in front of a section of our wrought iron fence to accommodate a climbing Mandevilla plant. The vines need something to grab onto when climbing so this worked out perfectly. It trellis was easy to tap into the ground with a rubber mallet it blends in perfectly with the fence. We are happy with the purchase.

I bought two of these trellises for a climbing rosebush that I already had, and to support a new climbing rose that I was planting. They are beautiful, sturdy, and of course I had no problems putting them in the ground. I used plastic zip ties to connect the trellises together, and they are wide enough to cover the end of my porch. The design is perfect - not too ornate or too simple, and a good compliment for my Greek Revival home. Ordering them was super easy, and when I went to pick them up at my local Home Depot, the staff were wonderful and so helpful. I'm attaching photos - but I wish my rosebush looked better (the heat and moving it have taken a bit of a toll on one of the bushes). I was already a Home Depot fan, this just reinforces my great opinion about the company, it's products, and it's employees!
