Vigoro Heavy Duty 100 ft. No-Dig Edging coil has a thicker, taller wall vs. standard Vigoro No-Dig Edging. Installs quickly and easily with absolutely no-digging required. Flexible and durable; makes aggressive curves and straight sections with ease. No hollow round beaded top and no heating in the sun to make flexible. To install, lay edging in desired shape and location and hammer anchoring spikes through the tabs on the edging (sold separately). It is recommended to place the spikes a maximum of 40 in. apart. To cut edging, use clippers or a hand saw and cut an equal distance between 2 tabs. Always wear appropriate eye protection when cutting. Can also be used as a paver edging for bracing rock, sidewalk bricks and patio pavers.

Q:The photos are showing two different edging products. It looks like one has a key-hole entry for the spike. The other shows a circulate entry for the spike. Does this require special shaped spikes. Can you please clarify? Thanks!

Answer This Question
A:Â Hello and thank you for your question. The Vigoro Heavy-Duty No-Dig Landscape Edging kit does not come with spikes included. The anchoring spikes are sold separately. There is not a special shaped spike for this product, but we do recommend using the Vigoro Landscape Anchoring spikes. Thank you for your question.

Exactly what TYPE of plastic is this product made out of?
Just wondering if it has been tested, to see if it leaches any chemicals.
Thank you in advance.

A:Â Hi Donn. Thanks for the question. The height is the wall height from the base to the top of the edging wall. The width is the width of the base, from the outside of the edging wall to the furthest most edge of the anchoring tab. We hope this helps!

A:Â Certainly not a string trimmer - I think it would even stand up very well to a wire trimmer.

A:Â Hi Stephen, thank you for the question. When trimming the grass around your plastic edging, we recommend only using a string trimmer. When used properly, the plastic edging can withstand a string trimmer for many years. We do not, however, recommend using a trimmer with a metal blade. Metal blades will cut the edging.

If are looking to replace your landscape edging and don't want the hassle of digging a trench for the edging, look no more. This edging is easy to work with and no digging. It looks great too. Don't forget to buy the steaks that hold the edging in place. When I bought mine, I thought it came with what I needed. You don't need a mallet to put the steaks in place. A hammer worked just fine, but I was able to push most into place.

Easy to install... But don't use the plastic stakes.
I just finished installing about 90' of this product. It was very simple and easy to work with. My suggestion is to skip using the plastic spikes and buy the 10" galvanized spikes/nails that Home Depot also sells for about .68 cents each. They are located in the fastener aisle with the regular nails. I put one spike every 3rd hole and it feels very sturdy.
My only complaint is, this product isn't available with a taller edge. A 3" tall edge would do a much better job of holding in the mulch.

Non-warp NOT!
Unless you are planning to put a spike in every single hole (every 4 inches or so), this thing will warp the first time it gets warmer outside (I put a spike in every other whole - every 8 inches, and it still warped between every spike). Considering that you would need about 300 spikes for 100 feet of product that comes with 0 spikes, you might be better of buying some decent brick edging instead. I wanted to like this product, but I have spent too much time, money, and effort into something that doesn't work as advertised.

We're sorry to hear you are disappointed with the edging. A few trouble-shooting items may help with the issue: Often waves between spiked tabs are caused by the edging being installed too loosely between anchors. You can try pulling the edging very tight between spikes. If the edging is not taught between spikes, it will expand and contract in the loose sections. We understand you tried additional spikes, as well. It may seem counter-intuitive, but spiking the edging too frequently can cause waves. Was the installation area prepared so that the ground was flat and even? If there are small pebbles, debris, mulch, etc. under the edging, the tabs will not sit flush with the ground, which is often a cause of warped edging. Thank you for your feedback and we hope these tips help.

warped and kinked
Very easy to install. However, first time the sun came out the edging kinked and warped. Must have to install in very warm and sunny weather to avoid this. Also would assume many stakes are needed to avoid the edging from moving and kinking. (Way more than the sugested 3’ apart). Spent a lot of money on this edging (400’ plus all the stakes) and regretting it, and thinking about removing it if i cannot redo it to look nice once warm weather is here to stay. Wish i could return all the stakes and edging.

This product comes tightly wound up and held together with three straps that can be cut with scissors. I spread the edging out and had to secure in place with Vigoro anchor spikes. You can place the edging in any shape you would like, so curves are easy to do compare to other types of edging. This product is made in the U.S.A and all you need to install are a rubber mallet and garden shears to trim the edging.
