If you’ve got hard water you may need to use some CLR or LimeAway to loosen and clean.
Mine came with a hole in it
yes, aluminum. And, at least out of the "box," it is very kink prone. Also if you have a tractor sprinkler with multiple hoses contected together, the couplers are so large they activate the shut off switch.
Mass x gravity
Nope, just "daisy chain" them.
No - it's not just you. The male end of my hose blew off within the first minute with just 60 psi water pressure. Replacing both ends sounds like a good idea.
Yes, I would... You're going to need that female end in order to attach the hose to a faucet, and the black "cage" like portion provides support and adds rigidity to the hose right at the faucet to prevent kinks.
The coupling is crimped on. It is not screwed on. Unfortunately the crimp is very loose. My hose had the other end blow off within one minute with just 60 psi of water pressure.
The 6 inch measurement is the height of the coiled hose when purchased (straps and cardboard) included. The 15.5 inch measurement is the width of the coiled hose when purchased. Both measurements are worthless unless you plan to box up the hose for shipment.
Make sure you have only one washer in the hose coupling and make sure the one washer is seated all the way in the coupling. I had to reattach it to a hose reel coupling three times before I got it right. Each time it was not threaded correctly or deep enough on the reel coupling. The third time was a charm, it has not popped off since.
