Questions & Answers

What size blade comes on this bandsaw.

Asked by Wesley June 10, 2021

Can you use this bandsaw on steel

Asked by nick April 9, 2021

Yes however you need to slow it down and use a good metal cutting blade, fine tooth.

What is the difference between WEN models 3692 and 3692T?

Asked by LeRoy March 9, 2021

I learned from Wen support that the 3962T is a newer model, with an upgraded capacitor and other features, and better packaging.

What is the HP? Also how easy is it to resaw 6" hadwood, i.e. setup and speed?

Asked by bandsaw March 4, 2021

I'm not sure of the HP, I think it's approx. 3/4HP. You cannot resaw anything thicker than 5-3/4" thick. With a wide blade, it resaws just fine.

-does the beaverton store have the wen band saw in stock

Asked by bill February 3, 2021

Hello Bill, thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. At this time, the 3.5 Amp 10 in. 2-Speed Band Saw with Stand and Worklight is not sold in stores, and is an Online Exclusive that can be purchased to be shipped to home, or shipped to your local store.

Is the motor strong enough to resaw a 6" piece of walnut into 1/2" pieces?

Asked by Bob December 19, 2020

I'd say so. Had a go at a seasoned 6" white oak log, which is slightly harder. Not a fast cut with the stock blade, and it bound a few times mainly due to the log being uneven.

When will this be in stock to purchase?

Asked by Steve December 13, 2020

I eventually ordered online. There was a period back in 2018 or so when it was more easily available. I wouldn't expect to see this in stores ever again.

how tall does it stand with the top knob but with out the base?

Asked by JP December 12, 2020

58 inches tall without the stand .Hope this will help

can you use it to cut steel?

Asked by buzz November 28, 2020

Hay Buzz I would not use it to cut steel. The band is made of steel. Maybe soft metal like aluminum but very thin stock.

Works great but had out of box issues
I followed the directions to assemble the bad saw base. When I laid the saw back onto a 4" block (as instructed) I heard something slide inside the bandsaw, but I couldn't recreate the sound. Three of the legs went on fine but one of the corners of the bandsaw base had a weld that was not grinded down and interfered with the leg seating properly. I had to make it work. After completing the assembly which was pretty easy I wanted to be sure the blade was adjusted properly. I saw a lot of online reviews that say there isn't much adjustment. The blade would not move. I opened the upper panel and the wheel was against the upper guard. I stopped what I was doing and called tech support so I didn't screw anything up. It was Sunday and they were closed so I left a message for them to call me back the following day. I decided to see if maybe the tracking was off bad so I loosened it and the wheel did pull back from the guard. But then I noticed the wheel was actually coming off the shaft. The clip had come off (that's the noise I heard earlier). I couldn't find the clip and had to drive into town to buy a package of clips as well as the tool to put the clip on. Problem fixed and blade adjustments made. I wanted to try the saw so I connected my shop vac with a 2-1/2" hose to one of the three available dust ports but they don't have one for that size. My Wen Planer has that size but not the bandsaw. I used it anyway and it cuts great. The thickest cut I made was 4" and it did great. Now it's Tuesday and I still haven't heard from Wen Customer Support. Okay since I fixed the problem myself but I want to let them know and now I have another question. I purchased a 4" to 2-1/2" reducer but the 4" reducer doesn't fit on the 4" dust port. What do I need to make this work? I called them again and had a 5-10 minute wait. I let them know that I never received a call back from them and let them know what the problem was. The tech's silence just gave me the opinion he didn't care. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Then I explained that I had to purchase a reducer and it doesn't fit either. I'm just trying to figure out what I need to buy to make this work. His suggestion was duct tape. Thanks! I was able to make something work. Overall I love it. I have other Wen products. I wish they were a little more consistent with the dust ports. I have 4 Wen products now and 6 different size dust ports but only 1 fits my shop vac hose. Maybe I'm wrong but I kind of figured a lot of DIYers would have shop vacs rather than expensive dust collection systems.

Product is as advertised. Easy to set-up. Runs smooth and quietly. May be a little under-powered for cutting thicker or hardwood materials.

Looking to upgrade from a 9 inch or bandsaw you will not out grow, this is it. Well made, the work light and stand is a plus. Nice set go guides, no tools required to make adjustments. Has a unique dust port connection, someone was thinking..The light can be a bit on the bright side, an adjustment would be a nice improvement. Can be hard to find, good reason for that.

Love the size and the price
This band saw gave me exactly the height I was looking for without breaking the bank. I primarily wanted this to rip down thicker boards to make coasters, thinner paneling... anything like that. Setup was easy and pretty minimal. I was slightly worried about the power and how well it would slice down harder woods, because it seemed I couldnt really find a good review on someone using it on wider hardwood. Decided to give it a shot and it works out perfect. I ripped down some 4” wide boards in walnut and white oak that I was using for coasters. I took my time and let the saw do the work. I was moving the boards through by about 1” every 3 seconds... so a little under 2 minutes to rip down a 3ft board, which was perfectly fine for me. Ran them through the planer to get a smooth final thickness and I was good to go.

It cuts well right on, set it up to cut 2x4’s into 1-1/4” sq - lengths of wood
The band saw was what I expected, I had not owned a Wen product before, the reviews were good & it did what I expected. I used the wood rods for the wheel assembly to move it around as needed. I build bird houses and mail boxes so this band saw will make the trim pieces much easier.

I've only had this saw for a few weeks but I use it every to rip hardwood. Now take in mind that in not a professional woodworker by any means but I've this is my second saw(first was a 7" Porter cable). The instructions are very vague and if it wasn't for YouTube I would be completely lost when it comes to adjusting to optimal performance. Getting the blade tension set perfectly is frustrating to say the lease. Not to mention that after only a few weeks of use, the plastic lock for the tension adjustment broke. I contacted customer support via email and have yet to hear back from them(it's been a week). The work light that comes with it is way too bright and blinds you. On the positive side, the motor is very powerful and the fence is pretty accurate.definently an upgrade from the previous POS that I had but still feels lacking after some use.if you have ample time to fiddle with it and some knowledge of band saws then you may have better luck dialing it in(I'm still working on it). Also the thrust bearing seems to be already worn out. I'm not sure of the life expectancy of bearings in this type of equipment but I'm sure it's more than a few weeks. Now it makes an awful squealing noise when cutting the softest of wood. I found the stand that comes with it to be flimsy and with the torque of the machine caused it to wobble. I mounted it on a pretty heavy homemade stand with casters and still, more wobbling. I would suggest mounting it on a fixed stand attached to a structural member(wall stud) in giving four stars because of it's initial performance but it doesn't seem to be holding up. I'm going to replace the bearings and mount it on a solid surface and give it another go. Another thing that I don't like is the blade length. It takes a 70.5 " blade which seems to be an odd size that the big box stores don't carry. More of an incoveniance than an actual problem I suppose. If you don't have any experience with band saws, you may have to call a buddy who does to help set it up. Other than that, it's a decent machine for the price. I wouldn't count on costumer service to help with anything though.

Great saw for the price. Cuts fairly straight with a little setup. Assembly was pretty straightforward. The work light is nice and bright. Good saw in this price range for a hobbyist or beginner on a budget. Only one for this price that I found with a 6" resaw capacity.

I wasn’t too sure how this would stand up compared to other brands anywhere from $100+ more expensive but this thing is awesome. A little finicky to assemble but it’s heavy and rock solid. I have cut up to an actual 4”x4” piece of oak with no issues. Highly recommend and will be checking out some of their other products.
