AnswersThe point is that HD claims "Take measurements with 0.01 mm accuracy" Whereas the device itself clearly states "Accuracy: +/- 0.2mm" Obviously HD screwed up and needs to correct this false advertising!!!
What material is the Vernier made of? plastic, carbon fiber, aluminum or metal.? Thanks

The caliper does not measure accurately.
Close the caliper, set to zero, open caliper, bring back to zero but itsi not zero.. it's different every time just opening and closing.
The measuring parts are all plastic and it's kinda flimsy.
Returned.

I have used analog calipers for many years both professionally and at home. Therefore, when Home Depot offered the WEN Digital Caliper I immediately ordered it. I have been happy with WEN products in the past and this Digital Caliper is no exception. The caliper appears to be very well made and comes with a storage case. The digital readout is clear and bright, thus eliminating the need to determine/read the measurement off an analog caliper. The instruction manual is well-written and illustrated, describing the devices 4-way measurement capabilities along with care and cleaning. I expect to be able to pass this caliper along to my grandchildren. See attached photographs. Once again, well done WEN!

This WEN digital caliper is a well-designed tool! It has a handy carrying case in which they even made a slot for a pencil or pen for you to jot down your measurements (see picture). The caliper uses the very common and easy to find 2032 3 volt lithium battery to power the display. WEN does supply the battery with this tool, and there are very clear instructions on how to insert the battery on the first page of the four-page instruction manual (positive side up). The display reads out in millimeters, inches, and in fractions, and, as you can see in the pictures, the display is a nice, bright liquid crystal display (LCD). The hatch marks on the ruler part of the caliper are also easy to read and well-formed (see picture). This caliper can measure inner distance, outer distance, and step distance, thanks to it having both internal and external jaws, and you can use the measuring tip at the opposite end of the ruler from the jaws for any depth measurements. This caliper is very versatile! It can be used for measurements up to 6 inches, so it is perfect to have for most all measurements you will need to make around the workshop or garage. I highly recommend it!

An amazing instrument for the price - a basic digital caliper made from a carbon fiber composite which appears to be very accurate and stable - it repeatedly returned to zero, when opened and closed.
There are 3 buttons: the left button scrolls through mm, inches and fractions, the middle button is ON/OFF and the right button is the zero set. This does not have thumb wheel for fine adjustments - just a molded thumb push/pull lobe.
The LCD screen (protected by a removable plastic film) has two sizes of numbers, 9/16” and 1/4” tall which are very legible (the screen is not back lit and relies on reflected light).
There is a printed scale on the body - but parallax and the slightly curved edge provides a rough estimate at best (see photo).
The caliper components are a molded composite, but all of the measuring surfaces have been machined - unfortunately the depth measurement surface still has burrs that need to be removed (see photos).
A plastic case is included and provides convenient safe storage.

This is the first caliper I've owned, so I can't offer a comparison with others. However, I researched extensively before buying this one and am pleased with its excellent build quality, accuracy and versatility. Good price point, too, along with the handy storage case. Doesn't seem to me this would tolerate rough use, though, as in tossing it in a tool box (particularly if it would not be in the storage case). Overall a great tool for the uses I intend.
