A: It splits oak new or seasoned. Had no problems with either. Not sure about hickory
A: I split mostly Madrone and Fur. I have split both seasoned and unseasoned wood with it. It works really well for your home needs.

A: No the motor is 120 volt only. It is not switchable to 240 volts
A: Make sure air bleeder line is open. Directions state could cause issues if not opened
