Love the drill bit rest!
The WEN BG625V is solving two problems for me: 1. My old bench grinder needs parts and, after 40 years, they are hard to find. 2. I needed to sharpen some drill bits and my old grinder lacked a dedicated drill bit rest. Unboxing to completed setup (not including bolting down to a workbench and running power to the bench) took 25 minutes. You'll probably get the job done faster - I work methodically and read the manual before starting. The instructions are clear, and the tech drawings are sufficient; I ran into no issue in getting thing assembled. Fit and finish are very good. Note that the grinder has a three prong plug and requires a grounded outlet. I didn't have an R20 40watt bulb, so I temporarily installed a 40watt equivalent LED lamp. Not a great solution, you'll want to get a proper bulb since none is included in the box. In use the gooseneck lamp vibrates a bit but not terribly; not enough to shake the temporary bulb to pieces. The power to the lamp is independent of the power to the tool - you can use the grinder without turning the lamp on. The tool rests, once tightened into position, are remaining solid, not vibrating loose. When I installed the clear eye protection panels I pre-installed the two small screws that hold each panel in place, then removed the screws and installed the panels. It helped “pre-tap” the holes. The only tools I needed to complete the assembly was a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a box cutter to open the box. The unit is quieter than my 40-year-old grinder and vibrates less (of course age may be a factor there). You'll want to read the manual on eye/ear/hand protection. Two wheels are included - an 80 grit and a 36 grit. If you want to install an accessory wheel, like a polishing wheel, instructions on how to swap out the installed wheel(s) are in the manual. WEN includes a spacer that may be needed when installing a wire wheel or polishing wheel. There's no onboard storage for the spacer. Since I know I'll forget where I put it, I taped the spacer to the front of the quenching tray. Speaking of which - the tray is divided into two compartments (one for oil, one for water?) and doesn't vibrate enough to slop the water onto the workbench. I prefer to bolt my grinders down but if you want to have yours portable the WEN comes in at just over 29 pounds. It pulls 2.5 amps; the dimensions of the grinder are on the Home Depot webpage. There is no "instant stop" - once you turn the power switch off it takes some time to coast to a stop. It helps if you use the variable speed knob (to the left of the power switch, see photo) to turn the speed to minimum and then power the machine off. This grinder works as advertised and meets my needs (I really like the drill sharpening feature, YMMV). WEN offers a two-year warranty for home use, and there's a 90-day return policy from Home Depot.

Versatile and functional solid bench grinder
Right out of the box I noticed this is a heavyweight (30 lbs.) bench grinder. Once I put it on my workbench it's versatility became apparent. Both wheels are readily available and changeable 6" x 3/4" with 1/2" arbors. One wheel is a 36 grit which removes material rather quickly while the other is a smoother 80 grit for more general work. The work supports are adjustable for pivot grinding with the right one having an the additional feature of the standard rest or an included dedicated rest for obtaining the correct sharpening angle on drill bits. There is a speed control that allows infinite rotational speeds from 2000 to 3400 RPM. Manufacturer recommends starting the machine at low RPM and then increasing the speed to the desired work RPM. At first there was some vibration when the motor was turned on but it diminished in time. Grinder makes short work of sharpening the solid blades on my Weed Wacker and lawn tractor mower blades, which are getting more expensive to just replace. Sharpening my most used drill bits is also saving me both time and money. Having an adjustable work light allow me to see more clearly what I am grinding, thereby allowing more careful work. The quenching trays, meant for oil and water, attach in front of the machine and are quite handy. There is also a nifty wheel dressing tool that stores on top of the grinder. I am absolutely getting immediate value out of this new grinder.

Quality tool that works great!
The WEN 6 in. Variable Speed Bench Grinder replaced my 40+ year old Craftsman bench grinder. I am surprised that the motor on the WEN grinder is much smaller than the motor on my old grinder. The WEN grinder is heavier and has much more metal on it than my old grinder. I use a bench grinder to sharpen lawn mower blades, chisels and numerous gardening tools. The WEN bench grinder did a good job of sharpening the blade for one of my push mowers. The motor seems as powerful as my old grinder. I used the 36-Grit wheel to remove most of the metal on the lawn mower blade, I then finished with the 80-Grit wheel. I was very satisfied with the outcome. The flexible work light really comes in handy when sharpening chisels, it allows me to really see what I am doing and the adjustable work rests allows me to position the chisel at just the right angle. The variable speed motor starts up quick and runs smooth. However, there was some vibration at certain speeds when I first turned it on, but there was less vibration after I used the grinder a couple of times. This WEN grinder is backed by a 2-year warranty which is unheard of today. I recommend the WEN 6 in. 2.5 Amp Variable Speed Bench Grinder with Flexible Work Light for the DIYer who is looking for a small but yet powerful and useful bench grinder. I have several WEN power tools and they all seem to work great and hold up well.

Cast Iron Tool Rests, Variable Speed, Full Featured 6" Bench Grinder
There seems to be three tiers of bench grinders: Entry Level, Mid-Level Consumer/Prosumer and Industrial. This Wen 6" Variable Speed is a solid entry into the Mid-Level tier, ticking the necessary feature boxes such as 2000-3400 RPM variable speed and a light, but coming in with a very competitive tool rest feature set. The tool rests are substantial cast iron and easily adjustable with a tilt knob and an in/out knob for each side. The right side has a cast iron overlay rest for sharpening drills. The eye shields also are easily adjustable and decent. On top of the motor is a wheel dressing tool. The kit includes a 36 grit grey left wheel and a 80 grit white wheel. Not included was a light bulb for the light. All in all this is a very decent bench grinder and I can finally sharpen the dozens of old drill bits and hand chisels I have. Nice quality tool Wen!

Everything you need!
A really great ‘all in one’ grinder from WEN. Whether grinding metal down to size or sharpening lawn mower blades, even to sharpening drill bits, this grinder is prepared for the job. With the 2 grits, you can do some serious work with the 36 grit or finer work with the 80 grit, it can handle what you throw at it. Especially, with the variable speed at your fingertips. The goose neck light is very handy and can make your fine work much easier, too. And it even comes with 2 tools you never see provided by a grinder - the quenching tank with two sides (oil and water), and the wheel dressing tool, to keep your wheel square to your work. I have used the WEN products from Home Depot for years and have never had an issue. This will be an outstanding replacement.
