Although I'd still recommend, some of the sets screws were stripped. The screw is steel and the shoe is aluminum - so it does not take much to strip the threads in the shoe. Either the holes were tapped incorrectly or, when inserting the screw (in the factory), they cross-threaded.

these were very loose even though they were the model...
these were very loose even though they were the model that should have fit the rungs we purchased. we ended up finding some others that were a better fit.

I apologize that you had issues. We have a very tight tolerance although there is a slight allowance for hammered style balusters.

While I would recommend this product, there were many of the shoes that had screws that were too small for the holes and fell through out of the 108 I bought I will have to return and get at least 20 new ones. That was very frustrating
