Questions & Answers

How do I attach the shelf to this?

I have two of these I see how they attach to wall, but not how I attach the (wood) shelf. I am thinking I just screw it into wall and then screw the shelf onto it. The shelf is 1x5x24.
Asked by: Jo
I measured on the board, drew lines on the board where I wanted to mount them. Drilled small holes 1/8 in or smaller from top through the board, then I held the corbels where I wanted them, then using the holes in the board(shelve) as guides, I drilled into the the corbels, then put them together with small phillips head wood screws.Be sure to drill your holes on the corbels down where the solid wood is,so they don't split. I did this before mounting,Iv'e built 5 shelves this way, from 4-8'. You can of course see the screws , but mine are all mounted high enough that you can't . I suppose an easy way would be to mount them on your wall, then glue the shelf on with a good glue or construction adhesive. If you do the latter...put some weight on the shelf, and give the glue a couple days to cure. Hope I helped.
