The Waddell Early American table leg has a classic round design with rings and curves for an added elegant look. This table leg is great for dressing up new tables and restoring old ones. It is constructed of furniture grade solid hardwood for the finest appearance and long lasting durability. The table leg comes with a pre-installed 5/16-18 hanger bolt that provides fast and easy installation when using Waddell's Quick Mount surface plates. A:  The ball at the foot of the spindle is 1" in diameter and the spindle itself is 6", not including the threaded rod that anchors the spindle to the table. I suggest factoring the weight of the table and the thing(s) on it into your consideration of whether the leg will support a caster assembly. I used the spindles to build a computer monitor stand, and found that the anchoring mechanism (threaded T nut installed in a block glued and bradded to the base) was not as robust as I had hoped.     A:  The legs I have vary between 1/2 and 11/16th. I would be concerned with installing a caster as any side pressure would most likely break the leg unless you knew you were getting the 11/16 version. I believe it is the luck of the draw.
